Took my 2014 cheroke limited in for 1st service and asked if they could tell me why my car randomly beeps.....they turned beeping off but also overspeed warning voice has been also lost......
Also stop start is erratic......but was told I'm not breaking hard enough ....hmmmm
Can anyone help me.
There are several things you need to look at as I have no idea of what the dealer turned off. The dealer should not have had to turn off anything off as the beeping issue should have been addressed separately.
#1. Speed notification must be turned on. The speed over is not turning it on but just setting the parameters.
#2. You need to make sure the sound volume is set correctly for the non radio functions and notifications. There is a separate control for that. The dealer may have turned that one all the way down to eliminate the beeping.
For example My navigation voice and speed notification voice are set to be higher than the radio voice so I can hear it while driving.
There is also a volume control function that will increase the radio volume based on your speed. To date I have not had to use it.
Good luck. There is a lot to learn in all those functions.
THANKYOU. My husband took it back yet again.......had to go into Nav then into help then into other........no beeping so far but also no camera warnings....
My husband also hates the non adjustable head rest.....but nothing can be done about this.
Thankyou for taking the time to help.
Thanks, that's interesting. The only other post I remember about this feature was from a person in Australia. Noticed you speak in metric (i.e. "3 k"). What country are you from. Maybe it's something available in other countries but not the US. We've learned that's true with "power" folding mirrors and rear fog lights.
If your'e from the US, then I'd like to know how to activate the Traffic Camera feature because there is no reference to it in any of the manuals (i.e. Owner, Guide, Uconnect).
It is not a head-rest. It is an active head-restraint (as described in your operating manual) and is there purely to prevent neck injury in the case of an accident. It is not designed for relaxing against as if in an arm chair.
Thank you for your help, though I already knew it was a neck support to restrain from neck injury incase of accident.( and I haven't actually read the manual) . I never referred to as a head rest that was in anyway similar to an arm chair.....but was just saying my husband finds the head rest/restraint is not comfortable for him when driving. .....
Thank you anyway
Hello, yes I am from Australia. Go onto navigation settings.....then speed limits and then you will see safety cameras.
So you font have power folding mirrors . I thought American jeep would have everything.
Enjoy your day
My 2015 8.4AN does not have the safety camera feature. The only selections available are to turn on the speed limit announcements and at what speed overage the announcements will be made.
Thanks, we learned something new about a product difference between countries.
Frankly, I would NEVER have guessed that would be legal in AU. We've really enjoyed driving around AU (outside of big cities) because of the fair speed limits and tough enforcement. My sons thought I was BS'ing them when I told them about the enforcement. One son works in the auto manufacturing biz and he spent 6 weeks in Melbourne working with GM on the Camaro. Before going over, an engineer from Melbourne came to Canada and visited their office. When he walked into the meeting he asked what the numbers on the highway meant. He said 100 kph sure does't mean that because when he got up to 120 he was still being passed by everyone. He said that would never be tolerated in AU. When my son subsequently went to Melbourne (we had him drive our favourite road - Great Ocean Road) he found out that I was not kidding about enforcement.
Where do you live in AU. I'd love to go back for a visit again but my Dear Wife now refuses to fly - ever. So much for that thought. We've taken the Indian Pacific twice and I'd like to do it one more time. Would also like another crack at the GB Reef.
During our last trip 5 years ago we were stopped twice by police. First time was traveling north from Perth headed for Denham and Monkey Mia. Rounded a corner to find six cruisers. We were flagged down and given a breathalizer test. Passed it with flying colors although the bad breath may have got him. Then, in NZ traveling from Christchurch to Dunedin we were driving parallel to a rail line. The road then made a sharp right, crossed the tracks and then a sharp left. Our GPS had shown the limit at 100 but it disappeared off the screen when we made the left and again were parallel to the rail line. I could see a small town ahead and told my wife I wasn't going speed up since I could not determine the limit. So I drove at 60. I then looked in my mirror and could see a half dozen cars behind us. Horrors, the second was white with orange and blue bars - NZ police. Then the cruiser popped out, turned on flashing lights and siren and pulled us over. At that point I thought "just what I need, a speeding ticket." I lowered the window and when the officer reached the car he said "sir, can you tell me why you were driving so slow." My wife just about chocked trying to keep from laughing. Anyway, we got a lecture on the fact that 100 meant 100, not 90 or 80 or anything like that. We said we had no intention of driving 100 or we'd miss the sights we came to see. He then said "fine, but if you find 2 cars or trucks behind you pull over and let them pass." We agreed. Then had a conversation on enforcement and what they tolerate. He said if we don't go over 110 we'd be OK. Of course 110 in a 100 in AU is going to cost a bit.
