We are going to have to agree to disagree. I want to see the Chrysler employees get some credit. I am proud that my Jeep is a Chrysler vehicle. I am proud that I used my mom and dad's Chrysler discount to buy my Jeep. I am proud of all the work they did for Chrysler. I don't want anybody mistakenly thinking my Jeep was foreign made. I see that as a slap in the face to my parents. I am seriously thinking of buying some pentastar badges on eBay and placing them on my Cherokee. I am not into this debadaged look that some are on Jeep Garage. There was a time when we raced on Woodward or the abandoned runway out at Detroit Metro that we were proud to have a designated Mopar vehicle. I still have chemicals from when my Dad worked at Chrysler Chemical/Cycleweld. Nobody even knows what Cycleweld once was now days. Cycleweld holds a tremendous amount of auto patents. We are losing our history.

We do agree to disagree. And I have family that worked for Chrysler as well. Anyone who can't recognize a Jeep as Jeep doesn't know much about vehicles. No sense wasting time on people like that. LOL... they most likely won't know what the Pentastar is either, or worse, will mistake it for a witch/occult symbol.

Re: Put the Pentastar back on Chrysler and MoPar

The Pentastar is in the same category as the "bow tie", "blue oval", the slanted "H", the straight up "H" and others. All are known world wide and mean different things to different people.

General Electric tried to change its "meatball" many years ago. They spent millions on market research just to find out that the "Meatball" was too recognizable. All they ended up doing was modifying it slightly to the point that many didn't know it changed.

Whether we agree or not, the Pentastar is a brand and it is always dangerous to mess with your successful brand. I signed the petition, not because of loyalty but because I think it has a necessary part in automotive history.

Just my $.02 worth

Re: Put the Pentastar back on Chrysler and MoPar

It's not at all common for sub brands to carry the brand of the parent company. The only company that does that I can think of is GM, and they didn't always do that, just over the last maybe 8 years they started putting a little GM badge on the side of the car. My Lexus doesn't say Toyota anywhere.

And by the way, a logo did not put you through college or put food on your table. Your parents did that by working and sacrifice for you. Chrysler benefited from their hard work, don't sell them short by lauding their employer.

The company I work for is known around the world, just like our parent company is and a couple of others they own. We all have our own unique brand recognition. Our parent company was smart enough to keep their brand logo off our products.

Re: Put the Pentastar back on Chrysler and MoPar

Read all these post a few times and I think some are missing the point. This is not a sub brand issue. The Pentastar is a recognized symbol for Chrysler, not so much Jeep. Jeep is a sub brand that stands on its own. What are they going to use as a new symbol and how will it be accepted? Imagine the Chrysler cars without the Pentastar. It is the "mother" company trying to re-image themselves.

Re: Put the Pentastar back on Chrysler and MoPar

I kinda like the streamlined simplified "wings" that Chrysler is using now.. The Pentastar seems dated.

Re: Put the Pentastar back on Chrysler and MoPar

I've been driving Chrysler products since 1981. To me the Pentastar means a lot. To myself and many others it's brand recognition. When people ask who makes my Jeep, I always say "Chrysler Group LLC". I have no intention whatsoever of saying "FCA" makes my Jeep. I appreciate what FIAT has done to revive Chrysler. But they need to understand that Chrysler has some great workers that in the US need to be appreciated by the respect the Chrysler Pentastar has had for over 50 yrs.

We don't have to imagine that...Chrysler vehicles haven't had the Pentastar on them for 20 years.

They aren't re-imagining themselves, the reimagining happened two decades ago. Its just an "official" change to a change that has already happened. Hence why this is a meaningless discussion. The "re-imagining" would be if they put the pentastar [i]back[/i.

1997 LHS. No Pentastar:

1996 Concorde. No Pentastar:

1996 Town & Country. No Pentastar:

You guys are talking like Fiat ripped the pentastar off of a 2014 Chrysler. Chrysler stopped using the Pentastar LONG before anybody else had any input into how they did business.

Re: Put the Pentastar back on Chrysler and MoPar

I am thankful my Jeep isn't branded with the Pentastar symbol. There are many of us who don't like it. I always think of the horrible K car and other unappealing designs that have had that symbol on the front. Ugh! That's just my preference though. I understand the loyalty of Chrysler workers and long time owners. To each their own...but a Jeep is a Jeep to me. It has its own brand recognition.
