Remote Fuel Door

Last week my Remote Fuel door button would not work.

Had to use the cable in the rear side panel. Took it to the dealership. Corrosion on the wire harness. Only 5 months of driving.

Re: Remote Fuel Door

My Cherokee is 14 days old and the remote button for the fuel door got stuck when I went to fuel up this morning. Since I've only put two tanks of gas in it (I took a trip! ). I wouldn't consider it wear. The dealer put the part on order and says that they can fix it Tuesday when the part comes in (it's Friday).

They secured my door shut and recommened not trying to open it myself or it could be damaged. I'm glad I have a full tank of gas and wasn't planning on going anywhere other then the store.

NPrunner - Did they identify which wiring harness had corrosion. Also, any idea where the harness is located. Wonder what they did to keep it from happening again.

Re: Remote Fuel Door

I didn't know about the cable to unlock the door. Would have been. Ice to know at the time. Dealer replaced the cable. I have to fuel up the first time since they replaced it and I'll let you know if the problem repeats itself.
