Re: RO1 Recall

Had RO1 performed on Feb.25th. I have just finished a 2500 mile trip and the transmission is shifting just the way it was before RO1 was performed, flawlessly and smooth. Still getting 26-27 MPG.

Re: RO1 Recall

Jeep Owner Connect finally showed that my 2015 TH needed the RO1 Recall about a week ago. Prior to this the transmission had been shifting very well; no rough shifts up or down and none of those "wobble" issues or high temperatures either. This after about 1550 miles on the odometer. So, I took the TH in to L & L Motors yesterday here in Roosevelt, Utah for the Recall. It involves flashing both the Trans Control Module and the Power Control Module as well as a transmission re-learn drive with two techs aboard. They had it all day and delivered it back to my home about 4:30PM. There were 18 additional miles on the odometer so I know they did the re-learn drive. I took it out for a test drive this AM and put around 12 miles on it on country roads. I really can not see much difference in before and after driving. Trans shifts up and down about the same as before, which is good news for me as I was quite happy with it before.

So far, so good!

Re: RO1 Recall

Had mine done today along with the R05 recall. The form letter said 30 minutes. The quote at the dealer was 2 hours. They finished after 3.5 hours. I was the 3rd person in line for a recall when I dropped my truck off so I guess when it rains it snows (recalls).

Re: RO1 Recall

Hi uintahbasin, How's your Jeep doing after a few more days of driving? I am considering the same procedure at a dealer near you. Thanks again.

Re: RO1 Recall

My jeep crapped out shortly after the ro1 recall. Changed PCM then TCM and now swapped whole tranny. Wouldn't shift outta 4th gear and engine light and stop start error light. Not a happy camper. But still love my jeep

Re: RO1 Recall

So New tranny solved problem but even after almost 400 miles it still shifts like a bag of rocks sometimes so not entirely sure that this jeep will be right as rain so to speak lol Happy that I have a trail hawk in transit and will be getting rid of this built on friday lemon.

Re: RO1 Recall

Maybe this is just my experience, but mine is having a 'clunk shift' issue and MIL light since the R01 update last month. This is the second trans in this car as the first failed in early July after a May TCM update. I'm beginning to question FCA's programming expertise in developing shift maps for this 9-speed. Anyway, it's going in next Wed and the dealership will keep it for a couple of days to determine what's up with it. I'm thinking trans #3 is not out of the realm of possibility.

We've just spent the winter in Florida and returned this week. We had 2014 Town and Country so the Cherokee has been in the garage for all but 4 weeks at Christmas. When I saw these prices my first reaction was that I'd look up and see a Canadian location. Now I'm beginning to think you guys are being shafted as well. With our dollar tanking prices are getting out of sight.

Re: RO1 Recall

I've just finished opening 3.5 months of mail. Have both R01 and R05.

Anyone find hat 9th is engaged earlier? I sure hope so. In our Windsor Star today there is a review of the new Land Rover Discovery Sport HSE that has the same transmission. On of the reviewer's comments was interesting:

"The transmission is one of the more accomplished nine-speed boxes, as there's much less hunting for the right gear and it actually gets into ninth (the Jeep version of this transmission hardly ever seems to find top gear)."

I had disconnected the battery when we returned to FLA in January. Sure behaved strangely when I reconnected it. For the past two days the USB drive would not connect. It has 6600 tunes and I was really PO'd since the SD slot stopped working just after we took delivery. Today I disconnected the battery again and left it for a couple of hours. Reconnected but no luck with the USB working. Took it out for a drive because everything seems to need to be reset and suddenly it started working. That was a relief because it is my wife's car and I didn't renew her SeriusXM subscription since it would be sitting unused. She was not too happy when the USB would not work.

I have to say that after not driving the Cherokee for so long it was nice to get into it again. I had a 2012 T&C and last June swapped it for a 2014 T&C that was virtually identical except no power 3rd row - which we rarely use. That was a mistake. I've never before had the same vehicle twice in a row. I should have bought a Durango Citadel with a Hemi. Too late now since our buck has tanked and the price is out of sight with respect to value. One thing for sure - I will not get the new T&C next year. After our current experience with a new model I'll wait a couple of years before even thinking about it and let the bugs get sorted out.

Re: RO1 Recall

Well, trans #3 happened. Apparently RO1 killed the C-clutch snap ring and FCA authorized another replacement. The new tranny seems to be the best of the three that we've had so far. I'm not holding my breath, however.

Re: RO1 Recall

Just took our 2015 Trailhawk in for this recall. We waited for 3 hours for them to finish it, but the service manager came in and told us they were having issues getting the TCM part to work properly. He explained that if they couldn't get it working right, they would have to get us a rental and replace the tranny. Well, after another hour of waiting, it looks like we'll be getting a new tranny in ours. We drove home in a rental . The worst part it that they gave us a Dodge Avenger with over 43,000 miles on it and needing the oil changed . Guess they don't want to push selling any of those POS's to much. We'll wait for the dealer call to come pick up the Trailhawk and see what happens. The TH only had 4950 miles on it when we dropped it off. Let's see how much they test it.

#3?

Hope they installed quick disconnects on yours so the next time they just release several latches and the tranny pops out.
