2015 Jeep Cherokee Recalls | JeepProblems.com

It lists several recalls.

Why, if this is important for safety reasons, would it take FCA over two months to notify owners???

I get the feeling that someone is going to have to shake up FCA big time to get it working properly.
When they determine a recall is necessary they have to come up with a remedy, and test it.

Some people complain when they are notified that there is an issue before there is a solution. Some people want to know immediately even before the process of finding a solution begins.

You can't please all of the people all of the time.

Re: Safety Recall - 2014 and 2015 Cherokee [KL]

Is this a dangerous situation?? If it is, surely their attorneys would require that they notify the owners so they will know what to expect if it happens to them. I suspect they have had very few occurrences and thus they view the risk as minimal. I still haven't seen any mention of an owner of a Cherokee encountering this problem on this forum or a couple of others.

I don't think FCA fully understands customer relations though. It took a year for them to recognize that the flat towing death wobble was a product design problem (i.e., their problem) then another year to provide a fix and that was followed by a total lack of clarity as to who would pay. That IMO is not going to buy much customer loyalty.

Has anyone had this issue fixed? We were set to buy a 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited and when we went to sign final papers they said they couldn't sell it because of the recall. No fix available.?.

Thank you

Just went through the same thing with my wife's 2014. They replaced valve body and a harness. You can read about it here.

Re: Safety Recall - 2014 and 2015 Cherokee [KL]

I had my 2014 Trailhawk into the dealer yesterday for an oil change, tire rotation, the S55 recall, as well as an intermittent issue regarding the audio controls on the back left side of the steering wheel not working. They told me that in addition to that, there was a trouble code in the computer despite the Check Engine Light never coming on. They said that had something to do with the switches or sensors in the transmission bezel. Said it was covered under my Max care warranty, and parts were ordered.

Now, immediately after leaving the dealership, there was an audible chime, and a message on the EVIC saying that the 4WD system was un-useable and required service. I called the dealership while driving. They said to make sure the dial wasn't stuck in between settings. It wasn't. They had no other idea what to tell me. I drove home, shut it off, and restarted. The issue went away.

Today, had to take a 45 mile drive with the wife. No issues of any kind. Get to where we're going, parked car. A few hours later I go to move the car to a parking spot closer to the building. Suddenly the Check Engine Light comes on. (You would think the Message Center on these cars would tell you what the **** light is on for). No noticeable difference in performance. Shut the car off, go about our business. Come back about an hour later, start up, light still on. Drove all the way home, light stayed on. Still no noticeable issues with performance, sound, shifting, or anything else.

Does anyone have any clue what the issue could be causing the Check Engine Light to come on? Or why there were supposedly trouble codes stored in the system when the CEL had never been on before? Or why the stereo controls on the back of the steering wheel would stop working intermittently?

Hi Darkhawk,

Sorry to hear about this! We'd recommend revisiting your dealership for further diagnosis, I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know.

I will. I'm waiting for them to contact me to let me know that the new switches to replace the bad ones on the back of my steering wheel, and whatever switches are supposedly bad in the transmission bezel have come in. Once I get word those are in, I will be dropping it off to have those issues fixed, as well as having them diagnose the 4WD and CEL issues, and hopefully drive cycle it for a day or so to ensure those issues are fully corrected.

Re: Safety Recall - 2014 and 2015 Cherokee [KL]

So, finally got the parts in and brought the Jeep in for repair. Turns out the CEL was an Oil Pressure Sensor gone bad. Ridiculous that sensors and switches are failing after only 3 years. The 4WD Inoperable light is apparently because there's some issue with the Power Transfer Unit and the Transfer Case, so now I'm waiting for a new PTU to come in. I'm really getting fed up with this. Sensors should not be failing after only 3 years and 37,000 miles. What kind of crap quality is Jeep putting out?
