I have tried numerous times ti set it as the book says still no use. I am using a Genie opener that is roughly a year old and belt drive . Can anyone help on this

Compatibility?
Year old it should work. Belt has nothing to do with it as far as I know.

For mine it was a struggle only because it was done differently than my '04 Grand Cherokee and I am Tech challenged for stuff like this.
I had to go thru the instructions several times to fully be able to do it.

From what I remember from mine, I used the Garage door opener to program it. It took a specific sequence and time to connect.
Once I understood that it was not bad.
There might be another method if I remember correctly. That is using the memory button on the power head of the opener. I'll try and look it up unless someone else comes up with a better alternative.

Ours is a Chamberlain with rolling codes that is about 18 years old (!) and didn't have any issues using the instructions in the book. As Jeepster said, we used the memory button on the power head of the opener. Good luck!

Re: Sallemand....garage opener

for anyone who has had trouble or future problems I have finally figured out what was causing the problem. I spent a hour on the phone with Home link no luck they blamed it on the vehicle then when i went to dealer they blamed it on the hand held activator for the door . What was happening was when I tried to train the button it would blink then go solid instead of blinking faster . after two days of research i saw a old hand held actuator from the opener that I replaced so i tried it after setting to new opener and tried it on the Cherokee and well it worked so problem solved. Thanks to all that sent me ideas . Hope this will help other in the future . The Genie G3T hand held will not set up the 2014 Cherokee

Thanks again

Home Link has to do some work. When it doesn't work properly sometimes in a Honda and a Dodge with the same door, I blame HL. I always carry the remote just in case.

Re: Sallemand....garage opener

Sorry I didn't see your thread earlier. After working with several vehicles with Home-Link this is what I have discovered. You must use an ORIGINAL remote to program Home-Link. I have replacement remotes (Genie) and though they work fine with the opener, only the old big remotes which came with the opener will do the job.
