Scanner/code reader

Could someone please recommend a budget stand alone OBD II scanner that will correctly function to read and delete codes on a 2014 Trailhawk 3.2l
thx

Re: Scanner/code reader

480+ folks have written reviews on this standalone model and most seem to like it. Assuming you do not want the cheaper route of an OBDII dongle that transmits to free software running on a cell phone.

Re: Scanner/code reader

Well, I've used something similar to what I posted (Actron CP9180) on my KL and it works fine to read and delete codes. What I use now is an OBDII bluetooth dongle that transmits to my Android phone running the free Torque app from Google Play Store. I keep the little dongle in the console box. Less bulk and it works. If you're looking to read non-standard proprietary OBD FCA messages, good luck.

I've used a Bluetooth OBDII with an iPhone app that lets you put in Chrysler or Dodge to clear anything engine related. It just doesn't give you anything but engine codes.

As far as I know, the only way to read the proprietary codes is with a witech unit (dealer scanner) or an autoenginuity scan tool with the Chrysler add on pack
