Thanks! That is the most useful information. I was able to retrieve the Build Sheet (but not the window sticker).

my VIN shows::
160-amp alternator

Optional Equipment
3.251 Final Drive Ratio
Auxiliary Transmission Oil Cooler
Trailer Sway Damping
Customer Preferred Package: 2TJ (Pretty sure this is the tow package).

But does not specifically list the spare tire.

I'll contact the dealer later this week, and ask. I'm probably NOT going to get anything from them for free, as I drove off with the vehicle after being told there was "no spare tire because no one uses them".
Just a question for you. Other than listing the 2TJ package, does it also list the trailer tow group and components separately on your build sheet? I'm just comparing your build sheet info to mine. Maybe something wasn't specifically checked to get the spare. I don't know.

Just bought a 2014 Cherokee Latitude with Tow Package. 6,000 miles. V6 FWD with comfort & convenience package. Bought from a dealer who sold it the first time in September 2014.

From what I've been reading here, the TOW PACKAGE should have a full size spare.

Mine does NOT have a spare or jack. I'm thinking either the dealer or the original owner swapped it out with the air compressor + foam insert.

  • Is there a way to verify with Jeep that this vehicle should have a spare & jack?

AND

  • Can anyone post a picture of their donut spare & tray?
I'm not against the doughnut tire.... I kind of like the cargo area to hold stuff. The full full size looks to occupy the whole space. With the doughnut tire, how much room is left? I'll probably never go off road, this is only front wheel drive, so a donut would be OK to limp around on temporarily.

Thanks, John

Here is mine with the inflator (no spare or jack given)

AND someones photo (not mine) with a full size spare and jack.

This might be of help:

I'm starting to think he may not have factory Tow according to macfan's post.

You don't have 3.52 axle ratio or the 180 amp alternator either and I don't see the tow items listed on your build sheet. Give me a sec to get my sheet posted.

Re: Spare Tire Pictures / Cargo Compartment

Adobe is not working for me so, I had to snap some cell pics. This is what I'm not seeing on yours that I see on mine, which questions the tow package and lack of spare tire.

Mine specifically says tow group and 180 amp alternator in the first picture:

Second picture lists the specific items:

I also have the 2TJ package:

Re: Spare Tire Pictures / Cargo Compartment

It also says delete spare tire. It goes back to aftermarket or dealer add on, would like to see if hitch is under the rear bumper or integrated like factory.

Re: Spare Tire Pictures / Cargo Compartment

OK,now the question has changed..... is this a factory install?

Since I don't have the different final drive ratio, and the build sheet says "Tire Service Kit", I'm guessing this is not a 'real' tow kit.

Re: Spare Tire Pictures / Cargo Compartment

I'm guessing it was added after it left the factory. Too many things don't add up for it being a factory install. The only true way to see is to see how the hitch is installed, as the poster above me mentioned. If it isn't factory, your tow rating will drop to 2000 LBS.

Re: Spare Tire Pictures / Cargo Compartment

At least they used factory parts for a clean look and not an after thought tack on. 2,000 lbs. capacity is still usefully for most applications like a bicycle rack/extra gear storage/ski doo/jet ski trailer.

I'm going to say 100% not a factory tow package. Look at the bumper cut out. It's long and oval. Now, look at my cut out. Also your tow hitch is bending the plastic at the bottom of it.
