Standard System vs "Upgraded" Amplified System. WTF?

I have the "Upgraded" Amplified System in my TrailHawk. I've been fairly satisfied with the sound of it overall. Only gripe would be that certain music just seems flat while other music sounds great.

However today I got to check out my buddies TrailHawk which has the standard system. I was thoroughly impressed with the sound. Plenty of bass and very clear, given that its not the "upgraded" system. Now, I can't say for certain that it is actually better than mine but I'm quite sure its matching it. I will say that the bass doesn't carry outside his like mine does but I'm not looking for that.

I've played with the obvious settings. I've match mine to his that definitely was not the answer. Another thing to note is it seems as if the majority of the bass on mine comes from the front door speakers rather than the sub. For example, if faded all to the front bass performance does not drop off, yet when faded all to the rear everything drops off.

Looking forward to constructive feedback on this topic.

I know one thing for sure...I will not be happy with the sound in my Overland until I get a decent subwoofer installed

Re: Standard System vs "Upgraded" Amplified System. WTF?

i have the upgraded audio as well and have noticed the same. I think the "surround sound" works much like a home audio system. The bass runs off of a combined channel (likely front/center channel) and not the rear. I'm pretty satisfied with the sound quality and output. I'm not 19 anymore and trying to rattle the neighbors window panes. I leave it in surround mode and faded just a little bit back.

Another note. I noticed before the uconnect update often the fade settings would revert to middle. after the update they stay the same but the icon shows it faded to the back left, but if you adjust it back to the middle, its still there in sound.

I've noticed there is a difference between the surround and normal play. Surround seems a bit flatter. But last night I put some heavy bass music on and it was impressive. Really good low tones and no rattle from anything.
