The spider did it...

I have a one week old KL Limited and I have lost one of the key fobs.... inside the vehicle.

It all started with a Huntsman spider the size of the palm of my hand in the jamb of the rear passenger door. To quell the hysterics of the children, I dumped what I was holding in the front (including the fob apparently) and defeated the spider after a few minutes battle.

Drove home, looked for fob - can't find it. Can't find it anywhere. Searched for an hour with torch - moving seats all the way forwards, backwards (sideways if I could) it is nowhere to be found.

I know it's in there. The vehicle starts coupled with its refusal to lock from the outside using the door button.

I just cannot find it. Made the sheepish call to the dealer saying I'd lost the fob inside the vehicle (did not mention spider drama).

They have booked it in for a SAR mission.

Damn Huntsman (You can google Aust Huntsman Spiders if you aren't familiar with the things).

Dude, those things are monsterous. I don't know how you Aussies deal with that bull. I don't like seeing spiders bigger than most dogs in my neighborhood.

Re: The spider did it...

SJandL,

Perhaps there is another huntsman in your Jeep and it moved your FOB into a deep hiding place as revenge for its mate. Good luck with that!!!

I once found a desert hairy scorpion in my Jeep.....

.....used my shop vac to vanquish it.

I prefer our tarantulas.........

...this one happily co-habitated with us for several years.

Check between the track of the front seat and the center console. I lost my debit card down there. Also, the backseat rolls back and forth for adjustment and it may have fell between the split sections of the back seat. I couldn't tell you how to get that back seat to move to get something that's lost though. The sections are in really tight.

Thanks c-roberts. Old thread but I did find it after one final desperate search before it went to the dealership.

It was in the tiniest cavity under the wiring loom of the seat. I could only get the tips of my fingers in there and had thankfully left the dealers key tag on the fob and I happened to brush the side of the tag and then managed to hook the ring of the tag and pull it out.

Without that key tag being attached, I think the seat would have needed to be removed to get to it.

I'm very very careful about where my fob is now.
