According to the manual and FCA:
I4 with or without Tow group 2,000lbs
V6 without the factory Tow group 2,000 lbs
with the factory tow group 4,500lbs.
Simple answer is 2,000 lbs. without factory tow for your Trail Hawk.
Aftermarket tow does not raise the limit.

Now that said with a V6 and a Mopar hitch and Mopar trailer wiring harness installed by a professional like the dealer (OEM) can give you more hauling capacity than 2,000 lbs. Everything else I believe is there on the vehicle. The Trail Hawk has the extra Trans and engine coolers and full spare. not sure about the final axle ratio (tow group). But unless you are towing toward the limit or in a lot of hills you will be OK unofficially. Others have done it, but officially FCA says the Limit is 2,000.
Talk to the dealer and work it with him for an OEM install. There are bumper/ fascia parts that change and should be changed with the hitch so it looks OEM when done. Figure $500-$800 + for a good OEM looking job. The dealer also needs to software flash the tow wiring so it works.
Good luck and let us know how it came out. Remember the dealer is the best one to talk to.

Re: Towing

The Trailhawk has everything other than the hitch, the harness, and the axle ratio. Add the hitch and the harness, and you should be fine unless you're towing 4,500 pounds through the Rockies.

Re: Towing

Can someone plplease are post a picture of a factory installed hitch on a Trailhawk.
I haven't seen one and the dealer is to install a hitch on mine. I want it to look factory and if it's aftermarket it would be below bumper cover ?

Thanks.

Re: Towing

Not sure where you're from, but "Down Under" we get "fitted For", but "not with" a Hitch (Tow Bar).

So after getting the factory fitted Tow Package (Oil Cooler, Different Gear Ratio etc), our Stealerships here have to fit the actual hitch.

I think that in this thread (below) that I show a USA and AUST Hitch (Tow Bar) set up. I hope that it helps.

Re: Towing

Just left the dealer. I bought my truck and paid for them to install hitch and wiring. I brought a picture of Trail Hawk install vs under bumper cover install. They seem to think I need a new bumper cover to do recessed mount. Does the center panel pop out ? It looks like it does.

Thanks

There are pictures on the internet, this forum and the Jeep Cherokee forum.
Do a search and I am sure you will find what you seek.

Yes, they need to install a special hitch/bumper (for the trail Hawk) and a new plastic bumper with the cutouts for the hitch.
Be sure they use a Mopar factory hitch and approved Bolts to hold it.
The Mopar wiring harness has to be activated by the dealer. Also make sure they show you where they put the brake controller connector under the dash.
I still do not understand why they do not include the Tow as standard on say the Trail Hawk and Limited models. $500 bucks is not a lot when compared to the total cost.
Good Luck
