Exclamation Trailer lights not going with no key

Hi all,
Ok, when you guys in the US and Europe turn your engines off, do your trailer lights still work?
Mine don't unless the ignition is in the Acc or ON pos.
It would seem that the trailer sockets are powered from a switched supply!
This is really stupid in my opinion. I can't remove the key and leave the park lights and or hazard flashers on and have the trailer follow suit!
Just wondering if it is the same outside New Zealand (and Australia).

Thanks
Oliver

I suspect all countries require these lights to function by law.

Cars with LED lighting should have their trailer wiring powered through a controller module. This allows a higher current to pass to trailer lights that are not LED. Sounds like your power feed to the controller has been sourced incorrectly via a switched circuit.

You need to have this sorted by the installer.

Hi Mozzie,

Yep. I would say the lights have been connected to the rear cig lighter outlet.
The dealers did it with a factory kit!!!! Someone else in Oz has noticed theirs doing the same from my post on another site.
How hard is it to get this crap right!

FWIW, if in fact it's powered by the rear cargo power outlet, this could be of help....

From the owner's manual:

NOTE: The rear cargo power outlet can be changed to
“battery” powered all the time by switching the power
outlet Power Distribution Center panel fuse from fuse
location F91 to F81.

2 — F91 Fuse 20AYellow Rear Power Outlet (powered when the
ignition switch is in the ON or ACC position)
3 — F81 Fuse 20AYellow Rear Power Outlet (battery powered at
all times)
