Re: Transmission problems

Finally got my cherokee into the dealership. Its been in there for 8 hours. The tech says they applied an update to the transmission software. But due to the weather they arent able to take it out and drive it. I noticed one update requires a type of calibration. So im afraid of that. He also said he expect the problrm to just go away as i i only have 2000 miles on it.

Re: Transmission problems

Got it back. The receipt says no update performed even though the tech said he did it. So it sat there for 9 hours for nothing. Gave me the keys back and its backed rear end first into a 7ft snow bank on the parking. Im about to stroke out.

Re: Transmission problems

hi guys .. seems like this forum is very informative. i would just like to put some light on the transmission issues as a mechanical engineer.
as per the users manual on page 395 bottom right it says that its a self calibrating electronic transmission system and first few transmissions ( few hundred miles) could be abrupt. makes sense.
secondly I have had mine for a month now .. driven 800km , so far no problems that i could figure out .. yes the gear sometimes stretches upto 3000rpm before it shifts to the next one , but that could be my driving style.
I am not sure if the transmission unit actually gets reset by taking the battery terminals off ? but if thats the case i would love to do some coz when i got my car from the dealership , it was already 400km driven :P it does need calibration as per my driving style !!

Re: Transmission problems

No, disconnecting your battery won't reset it. Your dealer has to flash the computer.

Re: Transmission problems

Re: Transmission problems

There is a TSB out. If you aren't experiencing problems then there isn't a need to get it done.

Yes brand new one...45 miles on the odometer, back in the shop

Re: Transmission problems

700 miles and some days really harsh shifts and other days not so bad. Maybe it will eventually get better every day.
