I sent an email to Garmin asking how to load custom POI's into the 2015 Jeep Cherokee's 8.4AN radio/nav unit.

They replied back and said the 8.4AN unit is not made by Garmin. But the 8.4A unit is made by Garmin. So just the 8.4A unit is capable of loading custom POI's.

Can anybody confirm this? Has anyone had success loading custom POI's into the 8.4A or 8.4AN units?

For the MY14 & MY15 8.4an

"Full Feature Harman Kardon premium navigation with one-step voice destination entry, three dimensional city models and landmarks and digital terrain modeling"

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - 2014 model year radios

Looks like you're right about it being a Harman Kardon. I've sent an email to them asking if custom POI's can be added to the Nav unit. If I get an answer from them I'll post it here.

Are you sure about that? The link that bill_de posted is in regards to the Jeep GRAND Cherokee. I have a 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk with the 8.4AN head unit and the navigation is Garmin. I'd be surprised if the 2015 Cherokee had a different Nav system then the 2014's. Can you post a picture of the Nav menu screen from your 2015 Cherokee?

I received the response from Harman Kardon.

On Your Factory System
The OEM division produces only the upgraded amplifier and speakers for your factory system. The source unit is produced by another company. To this end your dealership will be your only avenue for obtaining information on this unit as we do not have any information on these products.

Greetings,

You might want to read this thread that was posted sometime ago:

http://www.jeepgarage.org/f155/navigation-issues-76417.html

It is only 5 pages long, but it sorts out the chain and who is responsible for what.

Best for now.:)
I read it but still not sure who to contact regarding adding custom POI's to the nav system. Maybe I should try contacting Chrysler directly. I doubt that they will be of much help though.
