Ventilated seats in Cherokee

I looked at a Cherokee TH tonight that has ventilated seats and was wondering if I could get some feedback from anyone that has them. Worth the cost and how's the wear?

Everyone seems to love the Cherokee's heated and ventilated seats. You'll loose the passenger under-seat storage. A guy that does mountain biking and gets in his car dirty says the little holes get plugged. No word on any wear issues.

Re: Ventilated seats in Cherokee

Had the ventilated seats in my 2011 JGC and loved them. Have them in my new Cherokee and love them still. I have noticed that on my Cherokee they come on automatically, depending on the climate temp setting.

Re: Ventilated seats in Cherokee

You can turn them off thru unconnect so they only come on when selected.

If you have the heated seats/steering wheel set to come on automatically upon start they will come on when the temperature is at 40 degrees or below. If you have the ventilated seats set to come on automatically upon start they will come on automatically when the temperature is 80 degrees or above. The on/off automatic setting is in Uconnect. You can not change the setting temperatures that things will come on automatically, those are fixed. The automatic setting works rather well unless you park in a garage. The garage keeps your Cherokee from experiencing the same temperature as outside of the garage in which case you will need to turn things on manually.

Re: Ventilated seats in Cherokee

Personally, I considered them as a must-have. However, after realizing that I would need to give up on the under-seat storage, I declined.

I would give them a definite, meh rating. I wouldn't miss them but they are okay to have.

I wouldn't be without the ventilated or heated seats/steering wheel. I love the air circulation in the seats. It is definitely worth giving up the in seat storage for as there are a zillion other storage ares in the Cherokee. I hate wearing gloves so love the heated steering wheel. Also, I have a pinched nerve in my neck/back and the heated seats feel great on it. What I gave up was the technology group. I have been driving for 48 years and am perfectly capable of parking, changing lanes, and braking my vehicle on my own. Even though I have had cruise control for years on my vehicles I very seldom use it. I certainly don't need an automated cruise control.

Re: Ventilated seats in Cherokee

I opted to not get them but I did test drive a limited with the ventilated seats for a good while and it seemed to me that those seats are of higher quality than the leather trimmed option. I think it's a personal preference, I don't sweat that often so I don't have a need for them but if you like your back side cooled then go for it.

Re: Ventilated seats in Cherokee

I love having heated and ventilated seats. During hot days I have them cool me down and at night when im done with my second job they really loosen up my back. I noticed a huge difference when I drove my truck after work and didnt have heated seats, I didnt even want to get up the next day because I was so tight. But if you dont think you'll use them its always nice to have something and not need it than to need something and not have it.

Re: Ventilated seats in Cherokee

The ventilated seats do come with a higher quality leather. One thing on these post that always surprise's me is that when people speak of options and how costly they are they never seem to factor in the resale add on. An example, a used 2014 Trail Hawk adds on close to 800 with the sunroof cost is 1495. so that's a cost of 695 for the roof. Almost every car, in a few years will have all the Tech group features. If yours does not and one does which one will the buyer choose? Think ahead...

I am not sure I totally agree with you. It depends on who your target resale audience is. Also, a lot of that tech stuff will be obsolete or upgraded by then. Nobody knows how well that tech is going to hold up either over the years. There are people who have a healthy fear of technology as well. I did buy the luxury package for my Limited but did not get the tech package even though I taught technology when I was teaching. I personally don't want a computer driving my car for me. The standard cruise control works well enough for me and I know how to park my car. But most of all I tend to keep a vehicle 10 to 15 years so resale is not my top priority.
