Please don't let the Trailhawk be the new Dart R/T. That would be so frustrating. That's the trim in the Cherokee that really matters IMO. There's nothing like that in the market currently.

I agree and I hope that's not the case, but it seems they are only building FWD at this time due to some issue with the 4WD that needs to be worked out. I have no idea what it is or how long it will take, but if these other models that needed something worked out are any indication than it could be a while.

Finally got an answer from one dealership. The salesman said $500 over dealer cost, minus rebates. Don't know if they consider the invoice price the "dealer cost" though.

Dealer cost is a floating number that is almost always higher than invoice. Don't ever sign a deal involving a percentage of "dealer cost".

Dealer cost is always LESS than invoice. Once you exhaust the holdback cost do you get to true dealer cost. $500 over cost is fair if they're referring to $500 over invoice. Highly doubt there will be any initial incentives.

When dealers talk about dealer cost it means invoice. They don't include holdback in that or even like to talk about holdback.

Oh I am not holding back on discussing holdback. There is some payback regarding holdback as I didn't even know it existed last time I purchased a vehicle (although that was a decade ago). I have no issue with a business making money. Zero. Entrepreneurs are my heroes, but I do have a problem with some practices from these businesses that sell the most expensive items we buy (next to a house).

You are so naive. My Grandfather owned a Chrysler dealership. My Father owned a Mercedes dealership. My older brother was the parts manager at an Audi dealership. My younger brother was the sales manager at a Cadillac dealership. Dealer cost never means invoice. Invoice means invoice. Dealer cost means invoice plus advertising, plus floor plan interest, plus sales commission, plus anything else. In other words, dealer cost means whatever the dealer wants it to mean. Invoice is a term that always means the same thing.

Dealers (like politicians) choose their words carefully. Invoice means what the factory billed him for the vehicle. Cost means invoice plus the pro rata share of whatever expenses he estimates are necessary to sell cars.

Ok how about this.... The dealers I have dealt with when talking about dealer cost they were talking about invoice. I am know in some areas they add all that BS to the price, but in my area they do not.

The product trainer we had in-store yesterday said the Trailhawk will be later than the other models, but not as late as the Dart performance model.

She also indicated we still have a couple of months to wait before ordering is available to dealers, but there will be some spec models shipped early so we will see them on lots sooner than we could receive any factory orders we might create.

So much for Q3, huh? A couple month puts you smack dab in the middle of September. Which means ordered vehicles would be October/November/December. That's Q4 and into next year. Sounds a bit ridiculous.

These "spec" models you're referring to - would that include a Trailhawk, and and would it be considered a pre-pro model?

Finally - any way you can get hard measurements of the cargo area? Let's get a height, depth, width measurement. With the rear seats pulled all the way forward - and all the way back.
