Re: Where's the ECO message?!

This was / is the user guide and regardless, it's frustrating that a feature it mentions that the Cherokee has really does not exist! It is a message about driving in a fuel efficient manner, not driving in ECO mode, where like the HEMI version of engines actually shuts down 4 of the 8 cylinders.

Re: Where's the ECO message?!

There were/are similar issues with the GC.

I suggested that they let the folks who write the manuals actually see the vehicle. But, it seems that Jeep likes to keep their writers (and programmers) in the dark.

Re: Where's the ECO message?!

They even showed ECO mode at one time on the Jeep website for the Cherokee. I have seen what the OP is talking of myself. It never materialized though. As I said earlier though it is not worth getting upset over. It was nothing but a dash message( popped up replaced mileage as I recall )when you were driving economically. It wasn't anything mechanical happening. Just some bling that doesn't impact anything.

Re: Where's the ECO message?!

Bill-D is right on the money! The users guide that came in the glove box is a very abbreviated version of the 500 plus page manuel that Jeep (customer service dept. that by the way is manned 24/7, the only N. American auto company that offers such a service, most just offer the emergency assistance 24/7) sent to me directly along with and expanded warranty book and another booklet on Uconnect. There is no eco light on the dash period.

None the less, Jeep should have corrected their error. What I have says otherwise. I understand your suggestions about not getting worked up about this but honestly guys that's besides the point. We're talking about a feature mentioned in a owner's guide / user manual that doesn't really exist. And that is just plain wrong. Period.

Re: Where's the ECO message?!

I wonder......

.....there have been numerous references to "Easter Eggs" planted various places in the Jeep as well as other Chrysler products. Could the elusive ECO screen have been originally planned as a feature but then converted to an Easter Egg to be presented to only the chosen few who drive in an exemplary green manner? I've never seen it.

They do correct these things in time. That's what the newer versions (available for download) are all about. You can't expect them to send someone to your house to rip that page out of your users guide ... or can you?

Agreed - and to be painfully correct, they never advertised that as a feature for the Cherokee. You could make a better case to complain for the fact that they did not explicitly address the fact that the passenger seat storage gets deleted with the Luxury package.

In my last three cars (none were a Jeep) I had numerous references to features that were non-existent. In one case I even had an LCD display (and description) of adaptive cruise control, even though the car had none .

Like I said - don't sweat it.

Come on guys, you know what I mean. Really. I'm done worrying about it. Thanks for your input.

Re: Where's the ECO message?!

if running in the most "eco" fashion is of grave concern to you you can watch in real time on the center display exactly what your MPG are, that is much better compared to watching for and eco icon to come up on the display. This is like the old VW's that use to have a light telling you when to shift up; when you ulitimately get your Cherokee you will forget any percieved misrepresentations on behalf of Jeep for you will love the vehicle.
