Who wants RRO steprails at a discount?

There is a group buy going on in the jeepcherokeeclub.com forum that ends Sunday, Oct 26, 2014. Anyone who wants Rocky Road step rails (supersliders) for their KL can get their order in soon and get at least a 15% discount. So far 17 people have ordered. If 8 more people order then the discount goes to 20%. Go to the forum and look in the thread "Rock Sliders Group Buy: Round 2" to get more info and the discount code. It's a great deal.

Bill, would you be kind enough to post that information here please? Some of us are not welcome at that other site any longer. (Long story probably best not to go into it in public but you can PM me if you need to know.) Problem is I belong to the remnants of a paid for by Chrysler forum and pass along information to them. There are 9 people who formed a new group after the paid Chrysler one ended. I would like to be able to pass this information on to them as there has been some discussion about these. If you would like me to pass this information on you are going to have to get it for me. Thanks.

Mac here's the copy and paste of the first post.

**Update 10/20/214 Group buy code Added**

Email form RRO:
I've set them to a default of 15% off. As long as we receive 10 or more orders we will honor that pricing. If we receive 25 or more orders we'll go to the higher discount. The discount is set for the sliders only, however, if people are ordering the cover plates at the same time we will carry that discount over to them. If people only order covers it will not count towards the final tally.

The coupon code is:

So the codes they created were not working so they had to create two codes:

jeepcherokeeclubrock (for rockrails)
jeepcherokeeclubstep (for steprails)

We will keep it active through the end of the 27th.

i believe if you use the code you get at least 15% discount and if more then 25 or so sign up you get 20%. Enjoy.

I bet that's a good story

Re: Who wants RRO steprails at a discount?

Thank you. Here is what I can tell you in public. The incident has to do with a disagreement I had with a prominent member over there. The thread was about Mopar Extended Service Contracts. I bought one from Bob Cline at Zeigler Automotive Group. I stated I thought I received a good price and great customer service including a follow up phone call after the sale to make sure I was well pleased. I also liked the fact that Zeigler's has a dedicated website for the Service Contracts. Anyway, the prominent member supports a Clay over at Zeller Motors. To be honest I know nothing about Clay. He may be a great guy. I know he and Bob play games and one is cheaper one week and the other is cheaper the next week. The only thing that bothers me about Zeller's is as far as I know the entire transaction is done by email and there is no website with support. But that is just me. Anyway, this prominent member and I got into a rather heated discussion about this. Just your typical good old boy argument. It was late at night so I went to bed after I talked with a couple of moderators over there who said it was no big deal and to forget about it. Well I get up the next morning and try to log on and I get a message I am banned permanently for aggressive behavior. No one ever talked to me. I just get this rude message upon log in. I am guessing that it is possible that Zeller's is a paying supporter over there and I stepped on somebody's toes. Truthfully, I haven't missed the place and find Jeep Garage much more professional.

Just wanted to add a bit more from that thread concerning this discount ...

If you purchase on the rocky road website, it is only showing a discount for the rails (and not the covers as well, as it suggests), but this is simply a bug in the shopping cart, and it is not working as intended. The suggestion is to call rocky road to place the order (and mention the group buy) to ensure the discount gets applied properly.

Also, it has been noted that the 'payment method' is not billed immediately as RRO will not bill until the total amount of items in this group buy is determined (since the discount may climb from 15% to 20% if more people buy it before the end date) - presumably end of day on Oct 27th.

The count is up to 17 buyers on the 'other' forum, as of time of this posting.

Damn, I'd be 100% in on this if I had the cash and knew how to install them.

Looks like Vesarius beat me to it. By the way, macfan, I read your entry above and got curious so I scanned the jeepcherokeeclub for posts. I couldn't see anything to support being banned. Your posts were perfectly thoughtful and civil, unlike some of the comments about yours. It's too bad some people are so thin-skinned or downright antagonistic in these forums.

Thank you. I am not sure what I did or said either as they refuse to talk with me. I have sent a couple of emails to the head guy over there but they have been ignored. I have a feeling that Zeller's is a supporting vender over there or at least friends with the higher ups and I stepped on some toes unknowingly. If you ever get a chance to put in a good word for me over there and can get them to look at the same posts you did I would appreciate it.

Re: Who wants RRO steprails at a discount?

I just wrote an email about the group buy to someone who is not a member of this forum. It may be worthwhile to some folks here, so I will post it here also:

I'll say a little more about what I have gleaned from spending too much time in the Jeep forums.

Mopar sells rock rails for over $1000 which look more like the factory plastic rockers. I think they will work about as well as the Rocky Road rails, but I like the look of the RRO rails more, as well as the price. RRO also has two styles of rails, the rock rails and the step rails. I like the step rails, but some people have said that when you exit your Jeep it is easy to rub the back of your calf on them and if the rail is dirty, then your pants (or calf) will get dirty. The bar on the step rail is smooth and slippery when wet. I am going to solve this by putting some no-slip tape on the top of the bar.

The Mopar rails are definitely easier to install. After you remove the plastic rocker panel, you just need to widen some of the holes that are already there for mounting. With the RRO rails you have to drill a bunch of holes through a pinch weld that is extremely hard, and that is the problem that causes the most grief with self installation. You can have a body or 4x4 shop do the installation if you want.

The cover panels solve a problem that kept many people from ordering them before. Without the panels there is a gap that would potentially allow dirt, rocks and mud to be thrown up between the door and the body. The panels eliminate this.

I have seen some complaints about Rocky Road Outfitters on the internet, but they generally seem to be a few years old. There don't seem to very many recent ones. I've seen enough good comments lately from the forums that I'm pretty comfortable ordering from them.

Re: Who wants RRO steprails at a discount?

The latest count of orders for the rock/step rails is 21. Only 4 more and the discount goes to 20%. You'll probably never get a chance at this much discount again, so if you are interested, now is the time to order. It should go without saying (but I will say it anyway), you don't have to actually be a member or join the jeepcherokeeclub to get this deal. Just order with the discount code in a previous post or call directly and say your order is part of the jeepcherokeeclub group buy. Rocky Road doesn't care and jeepcherokeeclub doesn't care if you are actually a member. If you do order please send me a PM so we will know the total number of orders.

Re: Who wants RRO steprails at a discount?

It looks like we have 26 orders. If you want 20% off you have through Monday to order.
