Chevy,

I'm curious if they schedule based on grouping similarly equipped models together or some other logic? It would make sense to run production on Summits for a period, then Overlands, etc.

Surely those of us that ordered on day 1 are ahead of an identically equipped order placed weeks later?

I've been in factories all my life...so nothing surprises me when it comes to "production scheduling logic"! There's always a reason...sometimes seems unreasonable.

...and so we wait.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Based on my experience, I am convinced dealer volume and allocation plays a huge part on when your jeep actually gets built.

There's a lot to it. But in short, no, at a launch the order date, VON, VIN, trim, etc do NOT dictate when yours will be built, and who's gets built first.. Nor is it practical for trims to be built in bunches. That's a production disaster waiting to happen.

Launches and production scheduling as it pertains to a launch are primarily dictated by the marketing department and their geographic studies. The orders are dissected by them, and they decide what goes out first.

After a launch period, it's a whole different equation. At which point 'when' you ordered becomes a more important variable in deciding what gets built when. But even then, trims still aren't grouped.

Thanks Chevy. Sounds like the "good ole boy system" is the initial logic used at launch. Nothing wrong with that. The big dealers earned that right. I'll be last in line since my dealer is a single location store with relatively low volume AND I ordered the lowly "limited allocation" Limited...

I'm fine with waiting. My last payment on my current ride is in October.

I believe and Chevy may correct me that it is more related to market distribution than specific dealers. I am sure there is a little bit of that but there will be certain identified areas that should see diesel first.

And of course if that dealer was willing to take say an extra 2013 Durango or not

You can find out if there are any dealers in your area that offer CNA warranties by calling CNA at 800-345-0191 ext. 408. CNA only sells through dealers.
I would stay well away from CNA. Nothing beats a factory warranty backed by Chrysler. You can only get CNA service at CNA dealers otherwise you have to lay the money out and submit to get reimbursed. Any dealer in the country can perform warranty service with the Chrysler direct warranty. Get the best price online and get the dealer to match it IMO.

Plus not to mention that the Chrysler warranty is backed financially by Chrysler. CNA is a private company. Should anything happen to them unless they get a buyout or a bailout it's worthless.

The problem is that Chrysler doesn't offer a lifetime warranty on the diesel and CNA does. I was told by the dealer I can take the car anywhere for service, but need to verify that. They are rated A+ by the BBB, A by A.M. Best and have received awards from JD Power. They have $55 billion in assets and have been in business since 1982. At least they seem solid financially. I'm still not sold on buying an extended warranty at all, and will keep researching before making a final decision. I'm just worried about all the electronics in the Summit after the warranty expires and I usually keep my cars at least 10 yrs.
