Re: 2014 diesel production

Yea, I'd suspect Texas to be a good bet. Especially considering the TAWA gave it and the Ram best truck and SUV for the past couple years, and they seem to value that.

I'd put California high on that list too.. Seeing as how they're all about fuel efficiency and all. Again, they look at the orders, pick target markets, and blitz those markets. Then the rest will get theirs.. So some of you all who ordered first (yesterday) unfortunately didnt gain any priority by doing so..

Yep, Texas is a diesel hotspot...but my dealer is tiny and in rural North West Mississippi. They are 10 miles from the TN line and far far from Texas. He has indicated that they feel like the red headed step child at times.

We shall see...

It was instantaneous for me. I texted my dealer to order and had a VON within a minute or two. He was on the order screen when I texted. My guess is that its computer generated as soon as the submit button is pressed.

Of course this would mean, if you don't have a VON, that your dealer is sitting on your order, waiting to enter it. Maybe they order in batches, all at once for some reason.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Well, whenever you guys get your diesel 4x4s, you will have to post what kind of real world mileage you are getting!

We have a little baby on the way in just a few weeks, so I am postponing trading in the XK for a WK2 until next Spring -- at the earliest. I just didn't think it would be wise to spend that much of our liquid assets to get a new vehicle with all the new financial responsibilities. Especially when the WK2 would be really reserved for vacations and road trips. My TJ and her Outback are our daily drivers.

Plus, I need to finish up the Willys truck restoration sooner rather than later.

Definitely... I have been following the Aussies a fair bit and they have easily seen over 30mpg on the highway.

I had it right away, too. My dealer emailed me a copy of the order with the VON a few minutes after we hung up the phone.

Re: 2014 diesel production

So I have been struggling so far... here is three different stories from 3 dealerships:
1. I can offer you 4% but diesels are not able to be ordered yet.. keep in mind this was yesterday
2. Another said "Each dealership is only going to get 3 Diesels allocated to them each month for the next few months because they have so few of the engines. It will be like the SRT Jeep... very limited and we cant offer you anything below supplier pricing
3. Giving you our hold back and not making almost anything off this car the best I can do is 2.5% below invoice

A lot of others say supplier pricing is lowest they can go. I dont really know what to do, honestly if someone can just give me 3% below invoice I'd order right now!

Any tips guys? I am not dealing with these delearships very well I guess...

One and 2 are not being completely honest.

3 is decent buy check the entire deal, doc fees, trade if applicable.

Speaking of managing expectations, I expect to be over on the over under bet. What is the worst that it could be? Is 8 weeks the longest or could it go or longer?

I was watching the forum when the 14 Hemi's and Pentastar' s were released but didn't pay too much attention to their actual wait time.

Allocation will be problem for some so it will be really hard to figure. Once we see D1 status come up it will be easier to tell.

Just heard back from the 4% off invoice sales manager... he was off of work yesterday and was going by the Jeep website to say that is was not available for order. He sent me an email today with pricing and option details and it looks like I just might get 4% below invoice!

Only questions left are is putting a deposit down on a factory order standard practice? Also is ordering the extended warranty online (via that chryslerfactoryplans.com) the same from the day you take order until up to 1 year later? It appears on their website its no difference in cost for first 12 months of ownership.

Thanks for answering all of my questions guys. We are all so close to the finish line!!!

With most dealers, taking a deposit for the order is a normal practice although there are members who are ordering without putting anything down. I guess it largely depends on your relationship with the dealer. I ordered yesterday here in Chicago and had to put $500 down. Still waiting on my VON...
