Re: 2014 diesel production

Is there any importance to the "build priority" listed on the order form!?

Not really, more at the dealer level. If it were not a limited allocation product, they could put in an order for 20 of them and prioritize the build. In this case, the dealer either has the allotment or not.

Re: 2014 diesel production

From what I understand, Jeep builds the "sold" orders before any will hit the showroom floors. Jeep is touting that they will be on the showroom floors in October. Hopefully this means we all get ours by the end of October.

NORMALLY, I would say yes. In this case, allotment and location are driving the inital build. Mine is not marked as sold but got to "C" status because the dealer confirmed allotment. In theory my "stock" sale could beat out a number of "Sold" units.

The SRT model of allotment is similar to this, there were "SOLD" orders sitting in the system and "Stock" orders still being delivered to dealers in the mean time. If the supply to demand is better yes, sold goes first. The only time with the current Diesel orders a Sold will get scheduled before a Stock unit is if the dealer has allotment for a number of them and has marked some as sold... "probably" depending on content the sold units will be build for that dealer first.

Sorry long winded.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Does anyone know for sure which Bosch Fuel Injection System is being used in the USA version of The CRD?

I believed it to be the CRS3-20 which has the piezo injectors.

The "2014 Grand Cherokee's Buyer's guide" says they're solenoid injectors.

Solenoid due to the higher pressure TMK.

Both the Bosch CRS2-20 and the Bosch CRS3-20 have the same 2000 bar(29,000 PSI) fuel pressure.

The OLDER Second generation system has the Solenoid injectors while the newer Third Generation System has piezo Injectors.

The newer system is being used in Audi's newest diesel.

Here are the two system's PDF's.

If the 2014 Buyers guide is correct, it means the NEW 2014 EcoDiesel has the OLD 2nd Generation CRS2 Fuel Injection system and not the NEW 3rd Generation CRS3 injection system. I should say I don't know enough about either of them to know which one is better.

I did all of my investigation/negotiation Friday from work via email and phone calls and Kings and Northgate never responded to my emails at all, so no.

Oddly enough not a single Cincinnati dealership would go below the supplier pricing level. The best I could get was one saying a "few hundred" below invoice is best they could do. Not sure why this is but I am happy enough with my result on price and doc fee.
