OK. I just was wondering if you had gotten a more recent update.
Here's a quiz question for you. Do you know why there is a delay? I'll give you multiple guesses:
a) They haven't received clearance from the EPA
b) The JNAP workers are too lazy to do the work
c) Suppliers of supplies supposedly aren't supplying enough supplies.
d) They are waiting to release the diesel at the same time as the RAM
e) two of the above answers are correct
f) all of the above
g) none of the above

Interesting...very interesting. Then everyone has been lying about everything. I gotta run, I'm off to go buy a FORD, KIA, SUBARU, RANGE ROVER, BMW, MERCEDES, CHEVY, JAGUAR, or a BENTLEY. I'll post my pics of my new vehicle soon.
I wish I knew what the real answer was... I know it's only June..and I won't need a vehicle until February...but I was hoping you guys would have a few out on the roads and trails, working the bugs out before I plopped down order moneys...
That's what happens when a carpet bagger takes money from Chrysler to prop up Fiat. Theives have to lie, otherwise they go to jail. You ever met an honest thief?
You know if the fix which we likely won't actually find out has something to do with improving the product then there will be advantages too. None of this changes what the vehicle will be and that is what I struggle with. I could go out and buy a fully loaded RAM, spend way less money but I probably will still kick myself when it comes out.
There is an identical Summit with the Brown interior coming to a dealer who is a client of mine and he is going to let me try my trailer out with it.... I have a feeling once I have driven it I will never be able to go back, I will either buy the HEMI Demo he has coming or will wait for the CRD. About two days after I get whatever I get, the delays won't matter any more.
I am sure anyone who has had their build delayed will say the same, after you got it, delays didn't matter any more and that will be true with the CRD.
I was just as mad but nothing really truly is as good as the Jeep and that is coming from a Mercedes driver
As much as I think we all hope the delay ultimately would lead to a better product, judging by all the false starts, mixed communications, and marketing going back months now, I don't think this delay is anything material with the vehicle itself. Judging by how uncertain it is, it has to be a legal issue of some sort. Either bureaucratic or some sort of corporate c@(kblock keeping in mind GM owns half of VM Motori. Who knows if we will ever know...
Actually the entire truth will not become available. You are correct though it is not just a hardware fix it is more complicated but it is not EPA holding the entire train up here.
Other rumors I have heard about the diesel ... Just throwing them out there from a pretty reputable source.
- low inventory of 8 speed transmissions for the diesel (SRT)
- in addition, may be a limited inventory of petrol V-6 engines as well coming soon (how would you like to sell in that climate ... No diesel, limited V-6 engines ... having to push HEMIs)
- source said he would be surprised to see the diesel out this year at this point in time (just his opinion) he's "not holding his breath"
Just throwing it out there, if you think it is something wrong with the truck, you are kidding yourself. We are about to take delivery in Australia of diesels. Mine will be here in a month, in other words its already on the boat and half way across the Pacific Ocean.
They just put out the specifications, no 0-100km times but it has 184kw @ 4000rpm and 570NM @ 2000rpm of torque. That is 250hp and 420 foot pounds. She will haul this baby
Don't worry, all the Aussies will come and brag here to tell you how good the diesel is with the 8 speed
No problem with the drive train friends just our piss tanks version M8. There are other hold ups but it is coming. We know you guys waited patiently down there so congrats.
They are making plenty on the EcoDiesel through their "Bait and Switch" advertising! I wont buy a gas burner this time around. I want a diesel. The Mercedes GLK250, although underpowered and having less tech features in the cabin, is available today and get 33mpg. The base price is attractive as well. Yes, its an AWD car chassis....I'm replacing an AWD Murano so the JGC is a big step up, especially in the offroad capability.
Been considering checking out the 2014 Acura MDX as I tire of the diesel wait. Not exactly the same class vehicle I know but it does get 27mpg highway with a gas engine. Here is the kicker - they were set to arrive in early to mid July and now they'll be arriving early (sometime this week). Will let people know what I think if you're interested.
You live in Lincoln right? Hey I got tired of waiting about 60 days ago and im picking up my new hemi tomorrow Do the same and lets trade them in together a year or so from now if the CRD turns out to be really that good
I found today the first Diesels (overland) at our local Dealer -first 2014 vehicles here anyway.
They are labeled CRD not ecodiesel.
..can not or to stupid to post some pics
Applied for a test ride, waiting for callback.
Oh, forgot to mention: local dealer is close to Frankfurt, Germany
Yesterday I drove a new Touareg TDI and I was impressed. Lots of power and (for an SUV) precise handling. I am still going to hold out for the JGC diesel as I don't think that the Touareg would hold up to the off road driving that I will be doing near our place in the Colorado mountains.
BTW, while "bland looking" there appears to be significantly fewer Touareg owners complaining about quality issues than the Jeep complaints I see here.
