The following quote is from this PDF: Common Rail Systems CRS3
Quote:
Varying fuel qualities are a challenge for every injection system. With the robust piezo actuator the injectors of the CRS3-18/20 are perfectly suited. Compared with a solenoid, the power of the piezo actuator is about ten times as high. This means it is less susceptible to small particle contamination in the fuel.
This certainly sounds like Bosch is willing to stick its neck out there and say piezo valves are better than solenoid valves for inferior fuels. However, it also sounds like pseudo engineering B.S. (We need a steaming pile emoticon here.)

They are refering to one very specific problem that may negatively effect an injector. The thing that got me the most, is that they will not recommend the CRS3 series for "global" use. So obviously there is something that they are not telling us? (yes pile O turds emoticon insert here)

I met a guy who pretty well runs recycled cooking oil in his Duramax and he makes it at home (in the summer). There has to be some reason why the work horses that can pretty well run on anything are still running solenoid.

I am not arguing that Piezo is likely a better technology but so was BETA. It seems in "performance" oriented applications there is likely a good reason to go there and the ability to go with higher pressures. But from what I had gathered, it seems on the surface if they swapped the Solenoid injectors for Piezo in this case we "might" end up with something that is less reliable? Unlike BETA, it seems to me that Piezo is not yet perfected for all markets.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I just left my dealer. They cannot order the diesel yet. Also emailed a second dealer and they cannot order yet and don't know when. Both of these dealers are in Iowa if that matters.

I received my VON Friday afternoon and still not a valid VIN. I'm guessing it will take a few days.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I also have been lurking and am now ready to place order. Am in san antonio and have seen a couple of postings with ancira logo's, that is who i was talking to months ago (david reininger) when no order info was available. Have one of you ordered from them, are they dealing and ordering? Are you getting pricing below invoice or below msrp? Thanks

Did they already place orders for others and have fulfilled their allotment, or were they unable to place any orders period?

No dealer was prevented from ordering. If the don't have allotment it might not get built right away. Dealers could order.

Again Milous knows more about ordering then anybody but I simply don't understand that they "can't order yet".

Sounds like that emoticon Commando was asking for, steaming pile of bull dung.

Just wondering, are you in the Des Moines area?
