Re: 2014 diesel production

I was looking at the description of my "Standard Features" as shown for my build on Jeep.com. It says mine should have a full sized spare in more than one place. Although, I think these are still spares, not exactly like the OEM on the other four rims. I am hoping the space for the spare can fit a regular size rim and tire. I will buy a fifth tire and rim if it fits. I will then also rotate with the spare. Just because it says this I am not convinced and won't rush out and buy a fifth ATX rim. But, you guys made me think of the possibilities.

So, I hope the new DEF tank under the spare, if that's where it is, doesn't take up so much room so I can't have a full sized spare. I know the fuel tank was moved to the middle for WK2 or before. So that shouldn't be in the way. I don't know why you would have to protect the DEF tank, I mean they didn't even protect the fuel tank before(i.e. the recall). DEF(Urea) is not a hazardous substance. Although, maybe urinal cake is really for preventing explosions in the bathroom. Maybe they think there is a possibility the DEF tank might, like dominos cause damage to the Fuel tank.

Regardless of any of that, I noticed the appearance groups have completely disappeared from Build and Price on Jeep.com. I had no interest in the appearance groups the Mopar chrome edition group or the other one, but, I am curious what happened. Maybe they are only dealer installed now or something like that. I would swear they were there before.

I am going with Rocky Road Outfitters - Super Sliders. I'm more interested in protecting the vehicle than what they look like.

Impalanut, as of tonight you and I are the only two JeepGarage members to have ordered a CRD on opening day and not advanced past "not yet scheduled". Want to tie one on and crash the party?

Two quick things,

Don't worry to much about scheduling until you are D1 and have an estimated delivery, even then that can change.

On the spare tire thing.... EDIT: I was incorrect, or more acurately the information I was reading was misleading...

WTF are you talking about?

Tow? With a diesel?

You... my friend... are crazy. I hereby deem you unstable and lay claim to your CRD.

If your Jeep comes with alloy wheels and 265/60R18 tyres, "full size spare" in Chrysler speak means a steel wheel with a 245/65R18, so not rotatable.

I would be very surprised if jeep cut into the spare tire storage for the DEF tank, there is a heap of room under the GC behind the rear diff, so much room in fact an Australian company has fitted an auxiliary fuel tank there 73litres (@22gallons)
http://www.longrangeautomotive.com.a...eep-tanks.html
If jeep need to take away spare tire storage to fit the DEF tank they should NOT be designing vehicles

Re: 2014 diesel production

For the Overland and Summit models, the Full Size Spare tire is not part of the Trailer Tow Group, nor is it part of the ORII Group on the Overland - the reason is that the Full Size Spare is Standard equipment on the Overland and Summit models.

Will, where are you seeing the note about the full size tire being excluded on the diesel? I ran a mock order and did not see any exclusions come up.

Re: 2014 diesel production

The Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank is mounted to the chassis of the vehicle behind the rear differential, I don't believe that it would encroach at all into the spare tire well.

Re: 2014 diesel production

False Alarm.... The notes about the limited do not allow you to build the vehicle as I was mentioning.

Sorry for creating any kind of panic, it was really only a situation where you were selecting specific options but at time of order submission it would throw an error anyway. I will chalk it up to some wierdness in the system. There were plenty of errors and funny things the last week, so it doesn't surprise me that it allowed me to configure something wrong for a day.

Anyway, no problems, looks like Full Size Spare is ok on all Option configurations, The order notes just didn't line up right with what I was seeing and it was allowing me to proceed with something that couldn't be built anyway.

My Appologies Milous, but thank you for the DEF diagram.
