Re: 2014 diesel production

Agree, there is a lot of space under the floor behind the rear axle on the GC. This implies that the Diesel will not be an option or the tank will be elsewhere (since non- combustible it could go under the rear seat) on the Durango or a future three seat GC since the spare goes there.

As to the "full sized spare", it has always been an 18" on a steel wheel for all lines. The rolling diameter of all tires from 17 to 20 is very close to the same.

I will buy a fifth tire and rim if it fits. I will then also rotate with the spare. Just because it says this I am not convinced and won't rush out and buy a fifth ATX rim. But, you guys made me think of the possibilities.

So, I hope the new DEF tank under the spare, if that's where it is, doesn't take up so much room so I can't have a full sized spare. I know the fuel tank was moved to the middle for WK2 or before. So that shouldn't be in the way. I don't know why you would have to protect the DEF tank, I mean they didn't even protect the fuel tank before(i.e. the recall). DEF(Urea) is not a hazardous substance. Although, maybe urinal cake is really for preventing explosions in the bathroom. Maybe they think there is a possibility the DEF tank might, like dominos cause damage to the Fuel tank.

Regardless of any of that, I noticed the appearance groups have completely disappeared from Build and Price on Jeep.com. I had no interest in the appearance groups the Mopar chrome edition group or the other one, but, I am curious what happened. Maybe they are only dealer installed now or something like that. I would swear they were there before.

I am going with Rocky Road Outfitters - Super Sliders. I'm more interested in protecting the vehicle than what they look like.
I don't have mine on order yet but will want some Super Sliders or similar for mine. I have the Rockrails on my 2005 Liberty. They have worked great but they are badly rusted. Have emailed and asked if they have done anything to improve their corrosion resistance but have not heard back.

Re: 2014 diesel production

That was quick. I now have the response from Rocky Road.

We've changed the powder coating process quite a bit in the last few years which has helped tremendously. The pre-powder coating prep has changed a lot including using stronger chemicals which are applied super heated and under high pressure. Doing this gets the steel perfectly clean which allows the powder coat to adhere to the steel better.

The same is true for folks with 20" wheels. The "full size" spare is full size in the sense of approximate diameter, but it's a completely different wheel and tire and not meant to be part of the tire rotation process.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Has anyone had any update to their MOTS status in the past 4-5 days? I have been casually watching and haven't seen much, if any, movement with my occasional checks. Maybe I am just not very observant...

I don't think you read the post you quoted:

I must not have been clear. The fifth rim and tire I talked about purchasing will be my new spare. The Original spare will then sit in storage with the other 4 wheels until I sell the car. So I don't care what the spare looks like; I won't be using it. However if a full sized tire and rim doesn't fit it the space, I will be stuck with the original spare and not rotating.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I recently ordered a JGC Diesel Limited from Koons in Virginia. The order included the AWY Offroad Adventure II Package. When Tom put the order in he added a separte line for the AHX Trailer Tow Group IV with MSRP $795 ($708 invoice). I pointed out that I thought the AHX package was included in the AWY Adventure II Package from what I had read. He went ahead and changed my order to remove the separate AHX option. Is there anything else I need him to do to be certain I get the tow package with the vehicle?

Nope, you're fine. The ORAII has the tow included. He goofed adding it.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Thanks very much for the response. I'm feeling relieved. I was worried there might be another option to include the tow package in the order with a $0 price associated.

Re: 2014 diesel production

So, is it just me, or does anyone else who has ordered/will order a Limited w/ ORAII also trying to figure out a way to swap the 18" rims out with 20"'s? Can a dealer simply remove 20"s from a Limited sitting on their lot, put the rims from the vehicle I ordered on it, rework the sticker to remove the 20" wheel option?

Be careful...you will be chastised and shown the error of your ways for wanting 20's on an ORA GC. Even though the JGC is a grocery getter with decent offroad abilities, some feel that 20's will totally defeat the purpose.

As for me, I don't have any plans to rockclimb and the tires on the 18's are pretty sad anyways. 20 inch Nitto Terra Grapplers that are slightly over width for the rim would offer enough sidewall/rim protection and more grip than the crappy stock tires.

I too would order 20's if available on ORA 1 or 2...but its not possible.
