I believe that is the base, obviously you can use oils that exceed the ratings.... Personally I will likely be using 5W-30 Synthetic Oil | Mobil 1™ ESP Formula 5W-30

I believe they will be updating the compatability charts on mobil1 soon but it lists MS-11106 compliance

2) Only use SAE 5W-30 Synthetic Low Ash engine oil such
as MOPAR, Pennzoil® or Shell Helix® which is recommended
for all operating temperatures. This engine oil
improves low temperature starting and vehicle fuel
economy.

Are these really the only oils I can use?

I went ahead and ordered a couple of cases of this Amazon.com: Pennzoil 550023013-6PK Ultra 5W-30 European Full Synthetic Motor Oil - 1 Quart (Pack of 6): Automotive just to have some on hand.

I tried to find some M1 ESP digging around online, but wasn't finding any listed anywhere fairly local (closest is about 70 miles at Pep Boys, looks like it's about $12.79/qt there). I've used M1 (mostly the Extended Pref) for years in pretty much everything. I've heard a lot of really stellar things about the Penzoil Ultra line too though - so I'd feel more than comfortable with it. Nice that it's only $8.49/qt with free shipping too

Anybody know what filters will work? I'm one of those people that likes to keep a full set of everything I need for the next service interval 'in stock' so I'm not having to run stuff down when I need it.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I am not as familiar with the oil filters but really you should search out the MS Code, most of the manufacturer compliance ratings are listed searchable in the oil manufacturer databases.

I am not partial to any particular brand of oil so I am sure it would be a valuable discussion to have amongst the CRD fans. I was familiar with mobile 1 ESP M from my Mercedes Days.

Judging by Milous' new avatar, I believe he may be off somewhere cliff diving, or perhaps participating in the running of the bulls, or other such interesting things

may be a while

Re: 2014 diesel production

I received an e mail from Jeep that I am scheduled for production. Does that mean I am D1 ? I see no change in the status on the Milous thread.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Well this is weird... VOTS has showed me in D1 for about a week, MOTS still shows me as "Pre-Release", and my dealer emailed me what appears to be a "Priced Order Confirmation (POC)" form that has my FULL VIN, Status of "D1 - Gateline: Plant has sequenced the unit for production, estimated ship date assigned", and my Estimated Ship Date is 9-5-2013 at 1:00AM.

Why is MOTS so far off? Or are the other two feedback sources somehow over-estimating? Just seems odd that I have a full VIN on the dealership side and both VOTS and my dealer see D1. I am excited to be this far in the game, if its true, but a little bummed that MOTS doesnt seem to be tracking my specific unit very well (again if it is in fact wrong).

You went to "pre-release" on Milous' traking thread. I was watching your listing as you were the only other one listed as "not yet scheduled". I remain in that status. Best of luck.

I posted this in another thread... Milous is not wrong at all trust me on this the tracking data is a little messed up..... for example according to VOTS Shannon has been getting paint for a week. I would say Milous data is more accurate as usual.

One thing you can count on is as soon as your vehicle is complete Milous will have the most up-to-date information on what is going on with your vehicle. Once the build has started the vehicle will be pretty well done in about a day or so. The most valuable information comes after the vehicles actually complete so you know if it's in inspection or if its been shipped or where it is.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I don't remember if anyone has said but what is the average time one sits in Pre-release before going to "D1"? Also, what does the "D" stand for "On Deck"?

BTW, I do like this kind of waiting much better than when we didn't know when we could order.
