My feeling is that it is preferable to have the "buy out" ZF, which I think we are all getting. It is a proven transmission produced for several manufacturer's models, some being a step up from Chrysler in perceived quality. Chrysler is planning to manufacture this tranny "in house" which will inevitably create quality issues inherent to starting up a new manufacturing and assembly process.

This isn't a knock against Chrysler but is true in all manufacturing. People have to be trained, machinery setup perfected, material sources and quality verified, etc. Glitches are inevitable.

Am I wrong or did Milous change the production launch again for CRDs in his first post of his tracking thread?:

"Production launch (North America diesel models): August 26, 2013"

Has anybody's US CRD start to be built? Seems like the D1 aren't moving.

What are your options? ORAII? Block Heater?

Re: 2014 diesel production

Just ORAII. I don't have anywhere to plug in the heater.

He has changed it a few times, I have lost track. A few people say their CRDs are moving along. From what people have said it seems there is a period of time in the production where VOTS shows more changes than MOTS.

I wouldn't worry too much about sitting in "D1" in MOTS.

Good; hopefully in the next few days most of us Overland CRD'ers go to "D1".

I've read here that MOTS will sit at D1 through the entire production process then show KZ from inspection until delivery. No details are provided in D1 but our JGCs are built from frame to inspection in approximately 24 hours. VOTS may only show 1 change during this time.

While in KZ, MOTS will update shipping progress. If your truck gets stuck in inspection, few if any details will be updated until it goes to shipping. This can be a lengthy time depending on various factors including backlogs and the issue to inspect.

This is what I understand. If I am mistaken, perhaps Chevy or someone with a better understanding can chime in.

Sounds mostly correct but I think KZ is a plant release which doesn't happen until after inspection and Milous has lots of other details from there on in.
