EDIT: After reading more posts in the Chrysler Forum it sounds line everyone at the JNAP is getting a holiday. They need the rest I think. Good time of year to rest. Nice weather in Detroit right now. Makes for a real long labor day weekend.
I would figure as the Doors are not usually on during Seat installations... Not sure about JNAP as I have not been in there but seen this in others.

Uh, I don't know about any "JNAP holiday," but yes, cars CAN be set aside and have the seats installed later. In theory. However that's not what's happening at the moment. It's just not a practical solution considering the situation.

We're pretty much shut down at this point. They even stopped us from building sub-assemblies and service parts. Apparently we're way far ahead on that stuff now..

Idk what afternoons (Body and Paint) are gonna do today. But I did see a bulletin saying Assembly (afternoons) wasn't to report today.

Do you guys get paid anyway or not. Do you guys run 24/7 normally? More long hours and overtime later I assume... That is, you guys will pay later in sweat for the time off.

I was of the understanding (apparently mistaken) that a vehicle didn't get scheduled for production unless they had all the parts in hand to build the vehicle. So I assumed since mine was scheduled for production with a delivery date that they would have had all the parts. Not so??

They have all your parts, they just have to pull them off the crash test vehicles first. A little more labor intensive but it saves them more money in the long run. Don't worry, you bought the extended warranty, right?

Yeah, idk where some of this stuff comes from.. I've seen that somewhere on here myself.

Guys, remember everything is JIT (just in time) for the most part. That means that if there are no mistakes, the parts arrive as needed. See Chevy's post earlier. The parts are pre-ordered but not necessarily on site.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Remember that documentary on the travel channel? Extreme factories?

I got the impression that everything was set by the time a GC was set to be produced. If my memory serves me right, the documentary showed everything flowing smoothly from one department to the other. But then, it was an info-commercial, right?

That came from me;

I was repeating what the guy at Chrysler told me. He said "they are collecting parts now and when they have them all you will go to D1". I assumed it was true because I was talking to Chrysler; I called the number for tracking posted on wj2jeeps.

Since that time, someone, I think Willx, said that wasn't true. He said Just in time processing meant the parts are never there until almost the time they go into the vehicle.

I will never take anything they say as fact again.

1.) That has nothing to do with a 'production scheduled' status..

2.) They were mainly explaining the way parts are ordered to the line and delivered that are currently in the plant. Not the parts that are in-transit/on order from a supplier.

I had explained earlier that parts didn't have to do with D1 status but it is OK, no one is paying attention to what I had to say about it either
