There are dozens of other manufacturers that would jump at the chance to take over production of the seats. I can't imaging this strike going on too long before Chrysler would have to make some serious changes.

Sounds like the strike may be nearing an end. They offered the strikers a 10% raise, and initial reports of acceptance are favorable. Will know more on Monday per the reports.

Your Jeep Grand Cherokee has been in paint so long it weighs 12,000 pounds and they painted all the openings closed so there is no way to get the seats into it any more.

I don't think that will happen. It's not that easy to just change suppliers.

In what way? Chrysler usually maintains ownership of any tool and die required to make the part. It's usually a standard rider in a supplier contract that if they can't produce parts within so many days that Chrysler can remove the tooling and take action against the supplier. If you have ever been to Metro Detroit you can't spit with hitting an auto supplier shop (small or large).
So one or several shops could pick up the ball if needed in short order.

The GC is to important to Chrysler for them to just let this sit. I am willing to bet there is a team of people working out several back up plans as I type.
