Marlon, we don't see E, we see KZ (Plant Release) or at least that is the status I care about. Or maybe the "Sold" staus hanging from the rear view mirror on the lot.

I will go back to my Diesel Crack comment, we got a taste when they put the order in and D1 is just the next hit. After that we will be twitching for the next status and God forbid some sit in Inspection for a bit, we will have members going through FULL withdrawl symptoms.

B through E? We only know about D and KZ....so B, C, & E are unknown to us....!!!

My obsession is now in overdrive.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Found the following recommendations for idling the engine before shut down, in the owners manual diesel supplement. It looks like they are officially recommending a 1 to 2 minute idle before shutting down after even normal driving.

I can understand a cool down after working hard, but after a low torque, low rpm drive? Nah.

I've clocked over 500k miles in diesels. Never had an engine failure.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I wasn't planning on the cool down either, after normal driving. I am just surprised that there was a 1 to 2 minute recommendation.

It actually technically applies to almost all turbo engines, just rarely followed.... PM the Aussies and ask them how long the leave them to cool (idle)

It allows the turbo fins and internals to drop from 1100F to 400F before shutdown where cold air can cause thermal stress if it was at peak temperature...especially in colder ambient conditions.

In an unloaded cruise, the EGTs (exhaust gas temps) will be 600F or less if its anything like my Powerstroke. The turbo won't make more than 1 to 3 psi of boost under light loads anyways.

Now if you drive it on the floor...cool it down.

So it is basically a CYA instruction in the owners manual that nobody follows unless they are towing or under heavy load? I suspected as much.

Call 1-800-992-1997 and press 6 I think. They can confirm if you are status "D" pre-release yet. Also even if you become part of next month's allocation it doesn't mean you won't get yours before some of us get ours... Also, have you tried VOTS yet? If you come up at all it means you're at least "D" pre-release. If you do not come up on VOTS then it means you are not, (I hate to say it), part of the first month's allocation. I don't know when it opens for September maybe the third which is Tuesday, my guess is you will go to "D" next week if you're not already there. Some have gone from Ordering to "D1" in a few days.
