Article speculated 15-20% of production.

The 1% mix came directly in a communication to dealers from Head office and I did see that note. It didn't say how it applied?
Out of the engines, well many of those have already been installed and sent over seas.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Yea I remember that dealer note from HQ someone posted too Willx, agree we just don't what the 1% means. 1% of total production makes little sense because it seems too low. My guess is Chrysler is planning on a big push into diesel this time around but that's just my gut.

I am waiting for Marlon to chime in on capabilities is all.... I was skeptical on the 1% as well.

Since I'm more interested in a tow car/people mover than chrome, I'll wait until it is available in the Laredo. Suspect that will be when all of the "my other car is a Prius" crowd get theirs.

Might targer certain areas of the country first also.

Hmmmm, not sure that Laredo will ever see the Diesel, at least not until full production in RAM etc for at least a year. As much as the Diesel is a premium price apparently there is still some buffered cost in the vehicles.... In other words it might be such a price jump in a Laredo that you might as well get a limited sort of thinking.

Anyway, just a thought from a dealer discussion.

I am total towing guy, so I need the Diesel BADLY and I am good with the upscale interior. I do hope they do bring it to the entire line though. Just drove a Cruze Diesel a few minutes ago. I see the entire Diesel trend picking up quickly.

Because the CRD is being built in Europe, I'd be watching the USD/Euro exchange rate, see US Dollar: CURRENCY:USD quotes & news - Google Finance . If the USD goes up against the Euro, more diesels, if it goes down, less diesels... maybe.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I might have to visit the sales department at my dealer to let them know I want one if it's true that the earlier diesels will only be customer orders. I was hoping to buy one off the lot to make it easier to negotiate, but the worst I can do is the 1% below invoice through the affiliate program we have at work.

There are lots of dealers who will negotiate pretty hard on a Factory Order. They get to take your deposit up front and don't have to risk stocking something that they may be concerned about selling. IMO the only ones they get really excited about discounting are ones that have sat on thier lot for a long time.

Milous said he "didn't know about the CRD yet" for tomorrow. there is still a chance, if it was for sure a no, I think he would have said so.

Re: 2014 diesel production

I just got off the phone with my dealer. The diesel is not able to be ordered. I do not know where he got this information but he is being told Aujust for ordering. Very disappointing. I really wish I hadn't sold my Wk now. I am going to buy a fun summer car and try to order in the fall.
