Re: 2014 diesel production

I spend plenty of time on this site but my VOTS/MOTS checking is pretty limited. Seems like Willx said Overlands won't be built for another 5 days or so.

Once VOTS shows a production status, your ride is done with the build within hours. VOTS won't show completed....never did for me. I'm still in "paint" on VOTS but my car is in the train yard waiting for the train according to MOTS. One leaves today for Nashville. I hope it makes it on that one.

More news to me!.. Guess we have a bunch of mis-badged Jeeps rolling down the line.

Well to be fair I don't think that is what I said either

The Overlands went to D1 a little slower because there were so damn many of them. Specifically the ratio of Jeep Garagers to be even more correct.

I know they are getting "completed"

Oh and just a reminder to everyone else. D1 doesn't mean dirty to Chevy and Marlon. It is the start of production they see. D1 isn't even a frame yet, it is just a date and sequence number in a production calendar (that changes a little bit constantly).

Re: 2014 diesel production

Yea, I figured that had to be misinterpreted quite a bit.

Everyone really needs to remember that what happens with JG builds and scheduling, is in NO WAY reflective of what goes on in the plant. There is no pattern to follow just looking at MAYBE 1% of our production.

I will even go so far as to say that there will be some of you who'll see a CRD on a lot, or at a stop light, before you take delivery. Many were built before the first here, and that includes Summits and Overlands. So trying to analyze the numbers, without all the numbers is kinda pointless.

Yes, I had tried to explain the sold/not sold allocation thing a while back. When you look at the plant as a whole the production movement is insane!

Anyway, thanks for the insight and for the heads up!

Chevy,

Does it seem like you guys are pushing through a lot more CRDs now that we can order the diesel and they are being built....just curious

It's hard to say;

1.) Because it's a launch, and the volumes are always abnormally high regardless of orders. Projected demand trumps actual demand in a launch. Which is the largest factor in determing what cars get built first. Demographics. The sold/non-sold idea doesn't really apply to this model, but that's a whole other topic.

2.) Even considering the above, volumes may be lower than what they could change to, bc we're also still in the middle of the WD launch. So in theory, the market could have a higher CRD demand than everything else in the plant, yet bc of the WD's the build would still be limited for the moment. It's sad, but we all know WD production volumes will fall in abt a month, question is whether or not that void will predominately be filled by the CRD. Personally I'd say no, bc we all love our gas sucking V8s, but mainly bc of the American ignorance to Diesel engines. But in a year when/if the price drops and knowledge gets spread, it could become the primary engine... Ok maybe 2 years.

3.) Ok, I forgot what I was gonna say here.. I'm watching like 5 games at once.. But I hope sumn in the above rambling answers your question.

I understand VOTS not updating. But according to MOTS I am still in D1.

To Answer both of your questions... MOTS does not track production Status because the info is useless. As you see from people complaining about VOTS and being in Paint or Frame for a week and confirmation by Chevy that is is way far behind, why would Milous even want to keep up with that Data. Your vehicle MAY be in production (VOTS can be wrong about that too) but when you see the date and time that MOTS says that is is complete and "Pending Inspection" that is the real thing, there is no point in the prior 9 hours of moment to moment that VOTS pretends to give you. So yes, it will go straight from D1 to "completed" but it really does make sense when you see the goofiness that VOTS spits out.

Edit: besides, TMK Milous still has a day job so I don't think he could run a complete vehicle production trace by the hour for everyone here.

Double checking your particular vehicle, I haven't seen anything on it... Chevy May very well have seen it float by but I don't know. If it truely did start production, I don't know what the shift is today but you may see it complete tomorrow Morning.

None of the Premium Members have receive KZ (Plant Release) as of 3:09pm EST... Once one gets released, we will see a few go because there appears to be a great deal of them in "that" yard (including people not from here)

Edit: My approximate count is that there are 5 Members with built vehicles in the yard....
