Re: 2014 diesel production

Is there really that much difference from the ones they are already building for overseas? I was just wondering because it would seem there wouldn't be much difference other than the emissions stuff?

Re: 2014 diesel production

It's most likely that they know they can sell them like hotcakes in the overseas markets.

Plus, with petrol powered one's selling so well here... why bother shifting production around from petrol to CRD and risk sales?

Once petrol sales cool off and the market is saturated, they could look at rolling out the CRD.

Sounds like it's not just Jeep, but all Chrysler entities are getting jerked around with the CRD stuff.

/shrug

Marketing ploy to get folks in the door it seems.

Re: 2014 diesel production

This news really pisses me off. I've been patiently waiting for the CRD. But my patience is wearing thin. I might be seeing a Hemi in my near future...

Sorry "Q3" is too vague for me. Is that July 1 or Sept 15? Can't panic and assume Sept with more slippage to 4th qtr yet. Milous saw the Q3 and thought it was just to give them some wiggle room in case Late June slipped. Not much difference between late June and July 7. Could still be in line for late June early July production. I'm holding out to see what happens next month.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Any wagers on the normal 2014 intro in September ?

Is quite a change from the new car intro secrecy of the last century, now they can advertise things they have no intention of selling and use the numbers for the entire line.

Wonder how many of those special 25 mpg Rams have been sold.

Get a hemi. Pick up a CRD when they have been road tested by other guinea pigs.

Last time I got an actual Chrysler Rep's response he assured me that it would be building by July some time and that I would get some more concrete information on that later in June.

I do believe that of course there are people on here who likely have more bleeding edge info than the factory reps but I agree I think we need to see what June brings. Once the regular orders open up there will be better understanding.

Still a little frustrated but I had a good trip with the Durango this weekend 7 Hours driving with 6900 Pounds. I ran premium this time and it felt much better and with slightly better mileage in tow it seemed to be a wash. Still miss the Diesel Torque though!

Well if the purpose is to sell out of an excess of hemis, they are succeeding.

it has nothing to do with sales and more with engineering and production.

Re: 2014 diesel production

One would think delaying CRD availability until fall is not going to do good things for their supposed "demand exceeding expectations" comment from a couple months ago.

Not only do you have several of us that gave up on waiting, but once the summer driving season is over, gas prices drop and diesel goes up...

I know I keep hearing that JNAP is "ready to build" the CRD

I don't get it...? They can build the CRD for export in the 2014 but not for here. Is there some other difference other than the SCR that makes it so hard to build for here. The RAM has SCR on on the new Diesels and DEF has been around for a few years now so I wouldn't think there would be a lack of know how.

Is there something that was discovered during the Export build that is affecting the decision to produce for here?
