Well of all the dealers I know none of them are expecting the RAM to show up with the Diesel first. So all they will do is piss off the people they have been promising all along that it was coming.
The Chrysler rep even said it would only be another couple of months.

Re: 2014 diesel production

The Ram Van has priority over the JGC? This just seems ridiculous. I don't believe it.

I understand the volume perspective on the RAM van.... the GM option is garbage, fords is too small or garbage.

Doesn't give them a reason to lie to customers though.

Crazy absolutely nuts if that is true. I can see synching up the diesel production so both roll at same time, have a big diesel launch - press release, exec interviews, etc. Guessing the geniuses think they might be able to 1-up GM and Ford with the diesel pickup and want to throw everything into that basket but PLEASE don't leave us out in the cold here.

Lets hope it's a combined Jeep and Ram launch and they have enough engines and capacity to build both at same time. If not then someone really didn't do their planning and agree would look like the keystone cops after 18 months of press build up.

Keeping an optimist view.... Hopefully next week we'll be able to order diesels.

Re: 2014 diesel production

What bothers me just as much as the actual delay, if not more so, is that idea that the first CRDs to arrive will only be special orders. This means I'll be forced to order one before I even get a chance to drive one? Not happy about that. I kind of envisioned being able to visit my local dealership and test drive one before I forked out a deposit first.

Re: 2014 diesel production

You can do that... If you have the patience to wait a lot longer.

Re: 2014 diesel production

If this is true that it will be delayed to build the creepy van with the diesel first I have already come up with their marketing scheme: give out free trench coats & boxes of candy for the first 1000 orders.

It would be a total disgrace to us who have waited so long (I've been waiting since 2010) so it might as well turn into a complete disgrace to Chrysler. They would deserve it.

Working with car dealers all my life... this is always true with a launch. First few months will usually be all sold. I remember the 1997 Grand Prix... it was a nice car but you couldn't get them except for factory orders for almost 8 months once they hit dealers.
If it is popular it will be sold out.... once they catch up there will be a few around. Who knows what that time frame will be with the diesel.... maybe this is why the 1% because of all the other things that will have that drive train.

Oh Man, the Memories... I was in car sales back around then.

Had a Black GTP. Only thing ever went wrong with those was rear struts mounts and rear wheel bearings but you put in a few of those and 300,000 miles on the motor. Still see lots of the originals bombing around. The next gen of those I knew Pontiac lost thier minds (I had an 87 Fiero GT too)

Anyways, moderately off topic. BUILD THE FRIGGING DIESEL so it can sell out for months and 15 years down the road we can remember how amazing the first year of those was too.
