Re: 2014 diesel production

Don't forget that NYC has the lowest car ownership rate of any city in the country. Low volume there shouldn't be a surprise.

Were they (the allegedly informed media) to simply add that the ACTUAL 30% increase in efficiency translated to an ACTUAL break even point of 30% more for the fuel, and then ACTUALLY do the math showing over $1.00 more per gallon until the economics breaks down; well then we wouldn't get the good deals on the diesels, now would we?

Furthermore, nothing drives me more nuts than comparing Diesel to RUG. Diesel is a Premium fuel. Any "properly" built Engine with a Turbo requires Premium fuel. Compare apples to apples, and it REALLY leans towards Diesel.

Good third post is all I've got to say to that!

I 100% agree with this. My Subaru needs premium and that costs me within 5 of diesel. Additionally, I only get at best 21 MPG on the car (the turbo is on there for fun not economy). I have to fill up every 250 miles or so and put another 11-12 gallons in. Per Fuelly, I am running around 20 per mile. I'm excited to see my cost per mile with the CRD.

I'm not forgetting, believe me - I haven't had a car for 5 years now...

Very interesting. I forget - was the 1200/day for both JGC and Durango, or just JGC? Let's say just JGC - so at 240 per day (20% of 1200) it would normally take over two months to get through all of those orders, though should be a little faster depending on how long the new work-on-sundays lasts.

Then while we're all here (im)patiently awaiting the first KZ, Milous slips in:

It may take 30 minutes or longer for the engine oil in the oil filter housing to completely drain back into the engine. The oil will only drain back into the engine through the oil pump gears. When servicing the oil filter, vehicle maintenance personnel need to be made aware that the residual oil in the housing may spill from the housing when the new filter is installed.

To prevent residual oil in the housing from spilling when the new filter is installed, either use a suction gun to remove any residual oil left in the housing or wait about 30 minutes to allow the oil to drain back into the engine.
These guys love to give "hints". Wonder if this is a hint as to the delay? Somebody on the line tried to change a filter, got oil everywhere and now they're trying to clean up the mess?

I also haven't heard the EPA cert theory for a while. Isn't it about time to bring that one back while we're bored and needlessly trying to occupy ourselves with reasons why they might be holding up the release?

Just trying to make sure this thread eclipses all others ...

Thank you - I have been lurking since January, and haven't had much to add. Been driving TDI's since 2005, and that new Audi commercial (Fuel Pump freakout) has happened to me quite a few times. On occasion, I have some fun with it and stark freaking out too...and then get in and drive off...

That 1200 is for both WK and WD.. Before the WD relaunch the split was like 70/30.. Here recently it's been closer to 60/40. But it's only a matter of time before it goes back up.

The Sundays will be around for a while.. We work nearly every Sunday in Body, but Assembly takes a couple off here and there. But I get the feeling they'll be in more consistently over there, considering what's on the horizon.
