OK... not pre allocation but they gave him allocation for your order or it would not have been built.

If you don't believe me ask Milous 2 questions is Willx order an unsold order and will it likely be built early next week. (Milous I agree to those details being posted)

Trust me on this the allocation thing is about a number of variables but I know from the top of national distribution that dealers were able to order a certain number of diesels and that was pre determined whether the dealers knew it or not. The discussions on this happened many weeks before the orders even opened.

Volvo has the V60 diesel plug-in hybrid, but according to this article, the gas version will be coming to the U.S. because their diesel "isn't clean enough for the U.S.". Oh the other problem, I think it goes for about $75k....

Will, I believe you! I bet my small town dealer didn't really know. He was telling me they'd be lucky to get any stock orders in for a while after launch. My dealer probably figured "what the heck, I have an order in hand, let's enter it and see what happens." Maybe he got a random allocation and it just worked out.

I'm sure the marketing and distribution reps have all kinds of methods and reasons and none of it makes much sense to us outsiders. Its a mystery to me....

And I wasn't trying to be difficult about it but I want everyone here to know that if their order doesn't get pre-release they need to talk to their dealer..... where there is a will there is a way (and no I am not referring to myself).

Just advice to help people in their purchase!

I would love for someone to explain to me how an identical weight and diesel powered 3.0 CRD Range Rover can achieve 44mpg? On the highway at cruise, the hybrid electric motor does nothing but make the vehicle weigh more. Is the RR that much more slippery in the wind? The laws of physics still apply.

Performance is a different story though. City driving economy would be greatly improved under partial throttle due to regenerative braking and low torque assist....and starts at wide open throttle would be greatly enhanced with the 200% peak torque at 0 RPM that an electric motor can achieve for short durations.

Sure, 10 speed trans, and 1.55s out back!

Edit: Maybe that's not it.. Now that I think abt it, my big truck has an 18spd with 3.36s and only gets 5.5mpg.
