My dealer simply had me sign the something showing the price and tax breakdown. For both of us this was important. No surprises for either party.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Bummer, just got an email from my dealer. The only way to get the $500 discount is if it is shipped by Monday.

Yep. So unless they bust loose in the next 3 days, no discount. I think that $500 incentive was intended to help clear the inventory. They are hoping CRDs will be in demand once launched.

For me, it will be the third time I have missed out saving $500 because I could not get diesel when I wanted.

Same here, but I had to leave a deposit. They would not place an order for me without it.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Newbie looking for some direction.

I have signed up as a level IV member so I can track my order. Now that I have done that - what is the next step. I'm sure it's listed somewhere on the site - but I could not find it.

Like most of you I have been looking forward to the Diesel Grand Cherokee for some time. My pride and joy is a 1980 International Scout II Diesel - it's about time we have another opportunity for a Diesel SUV.

Thanks in advance for the assist.

Wow. The Scout Diesel was the FIRST of its type (that I know of). Let this be an example of just how long these diesel vehicles can run! Has it been in operation all this time?

You are correct the Scout was the very first - in 1976. They added a Turbo in 1980 to get a whopping 101 HP. Too bad International went under in 1980, and that was the end of American Diesel SUV's for a while.

The vehicle was purchased new by my uncle, who had the vision of Diesels becoming the fuel efficient vehicle we would all flock to... Let's say he was a bit ahead of his time, but not off the mark. It was his daily driver for many years. When he passed he left me his Scout. I had the floors and rockers rebuilt, but the engine is still good as new with approx. 150K miles on it.

Maybe they just want you to come in and leave a deposit? That's kind of stupid of them though if they already ordered the car for you...
Yes we agreed on price and trade in value, we didn't leave a deposit they never asked for one, also our name is on the sticker? Soo not really sure just seemed odd out of the blue I was expecting to pay at delivery

It is reasonable for them to ask for a reasonable deposit to hold the vehicle for you. This should be stipulated as being refundable in the event you don't take delivery. It is NOT reasonable for them to expect full payment on the vehicle--nor should you do that, or sign any binding contract indicating you must take delivery of the vehicle.

As little as you can get them to take . $500 to $1000 is pretty common.
