Re: 2014 diesel production

In MOTS I am now JS, ship to storage. I have not seen another car with this status. What is my actual status compared to the other cars?

I thought about this the other day, that maybe being in the dark like the rest of the world, not knowing my vehicle actually completed inspection and or maybe even knowing it was built may have been good.

So is Ignorance bliss, or is MOTS that high that just keeps you running until that truck arrives at your dealer?

Opinions please!
I prefer knowledge (good or bad) to ignorance. The information this forum provides made me a very informed buyer. Yes, it was scary reading when I first logged on back in May, but one learns to gauge the comments with statistical reasoning. Not every GC has all of the problems discussed herein, but it provides enough information to be forewarned.

After first ordering a V6 gas unit, this thread offered valid reasons to reconsider the diesel model. The export-tested power plant, solid 8HP70 tranny with more torque and better fuel economy sold me. More money and longer wait, but I am happier with my decision to go diesel.

Like airline passengers and airport delays, there is nothing we can do about delivery. We might as well accept it, sit back, and let MOTS continue to provide a very valuable resource not available to all Jeep buyers. If we start throwing our privileged information in the face of the dealers and Chrysler CS reps, we risk losing the only connection we have to what is REALLY happening.

Thanks to all for the ride so far.

Re: 2014 diesel production

[QUOTE=Shannon;898653]I called Jeep customer service yesterday, and their exact words were "I see a shipping date of 10/4 for your Grand Cherokee" Still hope you are right, but if history dictates anything, I am not getting my hopes too high, just be be let down again like yesterday, and last month, and ........

I also called them yesterday for another update. Since last talking to them, my estimated ship date has not changed from 9/28. Now they tell me that my Overland will load on the rail car on 9/29. However, its arrival at the Port Allen Louisiana rail yard has slipped from 10/3 to 10/5.

Will,
I think that generally, folks (including myself) definitely are happy to get this extra info. I most definitely am. I think it's just that for us diesel folks, many of us have been waiting for so long that any news other than the call from the dealer saying its ready seems like bad news . So, this service is definitely appreciated by the community... Us diesel folk are just a little extra ancy is all

Milous is providing more detail is all, normally MOTS does not report "Ship to Storage" covered earlier in this thread. I guess it is on the topic of more information. Other than the 2 that are in inspection today, we are all JS (Storage) because we have passed the initial inspections until you get KZ "Release". It wasn't reported because people ask too many questions about "Storage" especially when customer service would still tell you, that you are in inspection.

MOTS will only report (I) Built Pending Inspection because the window of production is so short and the VOTS reporting is off so much in time, it really only matters that is it "Complete".

For me, I definitely prefer the information. The more the better.

Although it does remind me of a study I read once when we were trying to figure out how long a user would wait for an operation to complete before bailing, and that particular study indicated that as long as you provided a progress bar that updated periodically, regardless of how close to reality it actually was, users would virtually wait forever.

And in that vein - any chance I can get you to prognosticate on when my vehicle might start the production process? I'm guessing based on some of your other posts, and watching what's going on with others, that it might/hopefully would be in the next day or two ...

Re: 2014 diesel production

Here is some more info to feed the obsession... looks like training guide for dealerships? May be a sign of the roll out coming soon! I must add the information looks to have errors (note the models it says diesel is available on) and not very thorough. No wonder we always seem to know more than the dealerships...

Must be for the Canadian market. We don't measure speed in km/h. Also, the CRD produces 100% more torque than the larger 3,6L motor...not 50% more than an equivalent gas motor, as stated.
