Re: 2014 diesel production

I wonder if I fell into that random MOTS loophole... VOTS said trim this morning(I don't get the emails) but still no MOTS. Not overly concerned until the CRDs start shipping.

Well I was pretty well on with my estimate, which probably validates an extremely busy time coming for Milous. MOTS will update with your "complete pending inspection" probably in the next couple of cycles and that is what matters.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Does anyone have a guesstimate of how many CRDs have been built? Also, does anyone have an idea how long it will take to clear out the backlog of shipments. That is, what is the capacity of the distribution channels. What I'm curious about is if mine is finished and inspected, a day after they start shipping, how much additional time will it take to actually get on a train? I am thinking in the next 7 days mine might get built. I am also thinking in the next 7 days they will start shipping.

I don't really think anyone can answer these questions. But, this is what I have been thinking about.

Edit: P.S. I just read a few posts back so I even think more I will be built in the next 7 days...
(Thanks Willx.)
I hope I'm part of the almost all and not the rest.

Well yours might be finished just in time to be 1st aboard the 1st train... and make shannon's miss out because they forgot where it is parked. Easier to move yours than to move 9999 cars to get to shannon's

Re: 2014 diesel production

If they start shipping now that mine is built...you guys can just call me Nostradamus.

Willx,

Thanks for the extra updates...all of this extra input makes the experience better than the dealer randomly calling to say the Jeep is at the dealer

On Google Maps Satellite view, JNAP has 9 tracks of 7 train cars each in use with another 14 tracks that are probably unused. Each train car holds 12 Grand Cherokees. That's 756 cars. I have no clue how quickly they can load and move out each track. It would take 13 days if they cleared all 9 tracks once daily. I only see 3 mobile ramps in the picture. The train cars are 2 level by 6 cars so the ramp has to be moved twice per train track. Folding ramps interconnect the train car levels so a car can be driven from the rear train car to the front one.

I'd be willing to bet a dollar that all the vehicles are staged by shipping region routes so they can be driven easily onto the correct train cars in groups. It would be a logistical nightmare otherwise.

I just counted the rows in the Charlievoix Yard and any other places that look like storage. I see room for maybe 3600 cars. There are about 360 rows of 10 cars end to end available.

Are they stacking them up? Or are they shipping out large numbers to other locations for storage? Maybe only sold orders are onsite and dealer inventory is elsewhere?

Ok...I'm done satellite snooping.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Poking through the Build thread...looks like as of 5am everyone who went D1 in August is built except for:

Walt_mink
yardanimal (Two dates?)

I can only assume that at least walt_mink will be next if not done already.

Both appear to be hitting production today (that is they may actually already be on the line).

The next 4 days has a lot of Diesel's being built from our group.
