Now you are suggesting Chrysler is playing Tax evasion... I mean if they could actually push off all of those vehicles to another quarter, wouldn't that be convenient for them... The problem is the Logistics path won't line up.

Here is the thing, I am not even arguing that Chevy is not correct, maybe Diesels are moving but I find it really strange that logistics for every other vehicle being produced is being updated but not the CRDs or in fact the Logistics is being falsified?

Woodhaven and Java Yards update their inventories daily and the Approx 10 Member vehicles at Java Yard were all accounted for this morning.

Edit: I want to add that I have the utmost respect for both Chevy and Marlon, and I have just a vested interest as anyone else that these things start moving.... I just don't see it. Again, maybe Chevy is complete correct, as I do not get to touch and feel the actual vehicles, just trying to make sense of this. I think at the very least, this means either way that they will be at dealers very soon!!!

Chrysler can legitimately release product any day they like within reason. They can carry WIP (Work In Progress) over if they like or rush it out the door, if that helps. Factories do it all the time. Big orders are held or shipped to help prop up projections or bust a quota to generate a big bonus. I see it every day.

It makes no sense to the consumer but the Corporate Fatcat has a column in a spreadsheet that they are manipulating. He could give a rat's a$$ about us! If the numbers meet expectation, that beach house in Belize is one step closer...I wish I was that guy!

Management can choose when to ship. It's not considered "cooking the books", but discretion that they have. If i understand they take revenue upon shipment to the dealer, they certainly can decide to ship either Monday or Tuesday....

Yea, revenue recognition is an "art form" in corporate America...and there are various ways to handle it accounting wise while staying within the law.

OK, but what I am saying is that according to "Management" they have not released any JeepGarage Premium Members vehicles to be delivered to dealers.

I will drop all of my accounting arguement, it really doesn't matter. If the vehicles are on route to dealers I don't know but I am junior at this.

Maybe the inventory is being pre-staged off site because they ran out of room to shuffle them around. There is a logical explanation....we just don't have it.

It is definitely plausible. One thing I do not deny is we are very close to receiving our Diesels. It is certainly possible the big shuffle has begun. If I see anything with shipping data that belongs to any of you guys I will let you know.

A couple of recent interesting articles that may lead one to think that the suits are very much paying attention to when revenue occurs...

Re: 2014 diesel production

Keep in mind that as long as those cars are in the part, there is a revenue drain. Why do you think that Kanban became so popular and the Inventory lists are carefully watched.

I suspect that CJF wants to get those cars moving before people decide to buy other new diesels (I was behind a Touareg TD this morning with local plates so are beginning to become popular on the right coast).

So there must be some outside factor causing the delay and I suspect it may have something to do with efficiency and/or emissions and not orders from Turin.

From the second article: "A string of strong sales reports may have emboldened the union to try its luck on public markets. August was Chrysler’s best month for U.S. sales in almost five years. The company sold about 166,000 vehicles, including 4,200 Fiats—a 12 percent increase over the year-earlier period. With numbers like that, it’s easy for workers on the assembly line to dream of a stock market payday."

There ya have it, a very likely scenario....push back the surge in Sept sales to prevent a bump in the company value so Fiat can buy up an additional 20+% to obtain a controlling interest.
