Getting pretty close to nasty actually, spoke to a customer today who bought the Touareg specifically in spite of Jeep because he said the advertising drove him to the diesel and then immediately to a competitor because the dealer had no information on this ghost vehicle.
We are the fanatics, I get that but the general public who are interested based on the big time EcoDiesel advertising do seem to be driven to the other diesel options in the market.
I think it is interesting that Chrysler has spent huge money on the advertising and making Diesels for the Media but after a solid 3 months of people reading and watching people are going to other products.
I also realize that this is not a volume project for Chrysler at the moment but they are certainly loosing confidence in customers who we can't explain why there are these vehicles everywhere but no one has any clue when they will be able to order one.
