So what's different in the diesels vs gas engines that could be fixed off site through software update? The only thing I can think about is transmission software to manage the torque? Or maybe something related to urea? But that does not require and software / chips / modules as far as I know... Maybe the engine software itself

The plot thickens...

I'm guessing this is a regulatory compliance thing with the diesels and their PCM software. Please take note of the operative word guessing

Hey, what do I know? I mean as far as these guys are concerned the cars haven't even left the plant and are sitting in the yard sinking into the asphalt! Although I gotta say, I have yet to comprehend how we could hold 1200 more cars in our lots when they already were operating near capacity. Oh wait, maybe those trucks were taking them up on the roof!? (Why, I never looked there? )

All sarcasm aside, I would love to tell you, but I can't at the moment. And again, for the record, I didn't say it was software related, you did.

Correction: I don't know this to be FACT. I'm assuming now. Which I abhor. (Hence this clarification..)

I was told last Thursday about the movement and the "issue" and what was implied was that the issue was being resolved fairly quickly. And it was (is) my assumption that it wouldn't affect anything else thereafter, mainly bc we have no diesels in repair for it, and haven't stopped building them. But I could be wrong. Everything could be getting done offsite, without a production stop. I'm not sure at the moment... Just wanted to be clear on that.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Being it affects only diesels, and the government is shut down, still makes me wonder if it is a EPA hold up.

Then, what are the odds the diesels built AFTER last Thursday could ship? That would be cruel to those in line, but it would mean I finally hit the lottery (my build is Sat. 9/28).

I would feel bad getting an early Jeep anyway. There are so many more deserving.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Hey! What about the earliest Diesel builds? Obviously I might be interested in those around 9/7. Are they going to also be properly fixed before shipping? I would assume so, but not sure how this "issue" (as Chevy calls it) would affect the earlier vs. later builds.

It would be nice to know that the first CRDs off the line will be just as good as later builds. After all, we shouldn't really be punished for being early adopters.

Thanks for any info you can offer, and I understand that the details of the "issue" are not for public consumption, so feel free to be ambiguous
