There "were" a number of reasons they didn't ship, There is now one reason why they are not shipping. There have been no reasons added and certainly the current recall status won't affect your delivery time by more than 1 hour to be exact.

So it isn't recalls, it isn't defects, it isn't marketing and it isn't anything that you even care about, but it will be resolved.

Milous and I will keep an eye on the situation as well as I will keep an eye on your vehicle.

Willx,

That's the exact answer a lot of us need. Now I'll stop worrying about my Jeep missing a Chromosome, or having some other unrecoverable birth defect.

On that note - I'm in medicine, and have a bit of a dark sense of humor related to medical things. I wish those of you who are expecting parents of "non-Jeep" babies a happy and healthy pregnancy. My neighbors have a 2013 Rubicon, and just had their first son this week. So I can confirm that Jeeping and parenting go well together!

-GK

I – unit built, pending final inspection
J – vehicle passed final inspection but not released to carrier
JB – shipped to body vendor
JE – shipped to emissions
JJ – consigned to body vendor
JS – shipped to storage
KZ – released by plant and invoiced
Traffic Codes:KZ L – released but not shipped KZ M – first rail departureKZ N – first rail arrival

Re: 2014 diesel production

After reading all the clues, the one that stands out to me is the one where Chevy says "it is out of our hands". This tells me they either went off site for some sort of repair - but I doubt this, as Milous and Willx say no fix is needed. My second guess, which I believe this is probably the issue, is with the final EPA/milage. Out of our hands means it is up to uncle sam, who is currently basking in the sun somewhere in Tahiti. Until he decides to get back to work, we get to sit and patiently wait. Being these things were going to ship any day, and now Milous and Willx say none are shipping this week, my deductive reasoning makes sense. Also, i have posted something similar to this earlier, and no one responded. Must be too close to what is going on. Can't ship them if there is no sticker on the window telling me how many MPG.

Issue I see with this reasoning is that Uncle Sam only went to the beach a few days ago but the Jeeps have been in no-mans-land for weeks now...

Re: 2014 diesel production

I think the only reason I'm not obsessing over this like the rest of yonder diesel kids is, I *have* my new toy (well, one of them). The Durango is keeping me plenty happy right now.

Really, my only bitch about the Durango (ok, 2) is that it doesn't have a 2 speed transfer case with the V6 (seriously? ...the Grand has one just fine with the V6... dick move Dodge) and I don't have a wood and leather steering wheel.

Otherwise, I'm happy and content whilst I wait on my unicorn.

I think you're up to something. The EPA website (last updated 8/14/2013) sitll lists JGC Diesel's EPA numbers as "Upcoming"... They're not working hard at the moment to finalize it - that we know for sure

Thanks Milous! I wasn't expecting such a direct answer. Hmmm... 2/5 correct - I guess I get a big fat "F" in reading comprehension!

This is where I drew my statements from:

Incorrect: 1) There was a diesel-specific issue found and it was probably (though not definitely) addressed on the line for builds after last thursday. This also seems to require some type of update/fix to the vehicles built before the issue was addressed on the line.

Last I heard (yesterday), none of the diesels had got it yet though, bc they're still "updating" shipped gas cars with earlier buid dates. Nothing is in repair for that recall though in the plant. Again, all the late September builds are ok. Minus diesels. They have their own needs. But not the ones built after last Thursday. They're ok.

I was told last Thursday about the movement and the "issue" and what was implied was that the issue was being resolved fairly quickly. And it was (is) my assumption that it wouldn't affect anything else thereafter, mainly bc we have no diesels in repair for it, and haven't stopped building them. But I could be wrong. Everything could be getting done offsite, without a production stop. I'm not sure at the moment... Just wanted to be clear on that.
2) and 3) were correct, so skipping those.

Incorrect 4) There might be a fix that needs to be done (related to the recall?), but it can be done at the dealer if it's not done at the plant.

Incorrect 4.a) If the fix for 4 is not ready before the "non-fix related holdup" then it sounds like they might hold up the diesels until that fix is ready, though it sounds like the fix is expected to be ready before the non-fix-related issue so is probably not going to be holding things up. (a little bit of conjecture/interpretation here on my part)

Those came from:

Just means there is nothing really to think about, It will apply to a certain VIN range and anything that was not done at the factory will be done by the dealer.

** Just keep the Recall and the Diesel Conversation Separate as it won't affect Diesel buyers as long as the fix for the RECALL is released before the Diesels **
And the idea that there was at least one thing "fix related" and one thing "non-fix related" seemed to be re-inforced by:

But just look at it like this, some people will have a headstart in shipping when the coveted 'KZ' shows up, as none of those cars are coming back to JNAP. They just need a lil attention.
Due to the mention of "both 'things' are being addressed" and "They just need a lil attention".

Now the addition of "5) Unknown" further intrigues and complicates things.

Not that any of this really matters. They're going to ship when they ship regardless, and as Milous pointed out earlier, the fact that they're still building CRDs is a good sign. There are only so many places they can put these vehicles, so they must believe the issue will be resolved somewhat soon. Though that brings me to another thing I found confusing initially.

Marlon made mention of "12,000 CRD orders" which I found astounding for a couple reasons, including the fact that elsewhere is stated that the CRDs would be 20% of the build mix for the JGCs. With the JGCs being about 60% of the mix (right now, will change as we get further from Durango release) that's only about 150 CRDs a day. So that would take 80 days to clear those orders out. Yet within a month over 80% of the JG premium member's orders had been built. Obviously JG members represent only a small fraction of all orders, but unless JG members somehow got preferential treatment, you'd think our orders could be used to extrapolate. Of course the one caveat there is that JG members aren't really representative of the population in general since it seems we tend much more toward the upper-trim options but that should be less relevant for the CRDs because they're mostly forced into the upper trim options anyway. And if anything, it seemed like ordering an Overland was a *dis*advantage in terms of getting built, so you'd think the JG builds would actually be on the low side compared to the general population.

Now Milous has said that 1,100 have been built. And let's say that's 80% of the orders - that's 1,375 orders, which is a lot more "reasonable" though actually feels a tad on the low side. I know the US is slow to catch on to diesels, but that seems pretty low. Which either implies that the demand is lower than I expected or that by luck or an "invisible guiding hand" JG builds have gotten preferential build treatment.
