Chevy,

I would love see the inner workings. But I'm going hiking that weekend. Which is when my overland will probably ship. We could continue our lovely discussion about that dealership with the same name as where the pistons play.

I have rescheduled my install for the 31st, this is optimistic.

I am banking on shipment of the 19th. As I have little alternative if it's later anyway.

Yeah, I figured it was a little last minute myself... This is actually the second time they've tried this since the launch back in 2010. But last year it was cancelled due to a breakdown the week prior, and we ended up working that day. So I'd hate for someone to go out of their way to come, and they cancel/postpone it again.. I just figured I'd throw it out there for others in the Metro area and/or northern Ohio and Windsor..

Chevy, that is awesome. I wish I wasn't a 12 hour drive away or I'd be there! I was in Cleveland two weeks ago....dang.

I really urge anyone here that can make it...GO! What a great opportunity!

I did go to a family event back in the eighties when my dad was a die maker Mt. Elliot. I still have the stainless ash tray they were stamping for the open house. I didn't understand any of the workings as I was a child. But I can think back on it now and remember the size of the presses. Big. He retired out of CTC.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Milous commented on the adaptive cruise thread that the forward collision warning may not work above 55 MPH on jeeps built between 7/20 and 8/28. Mine falls in this time frame. Will they put the software update in before shipping, or only if I have problems with it after taking delivery? (which would suck, as the way one may find out is by getting in an accident - don't want to have a false sense of security).

Yes, your software will be upgraded, it's probably already been done .

Re: 2014 diesel production

My dad was telling me about buying a Land Rover Series II while stationed in Germany. He drove to the Solihull plant and did a factory acceptance. They took him on the off road course and then detailed his truck. I kind of wish we could take possession at the factory. Take the entire day, do a tour. Corvette has mastered the factory delivery process. A friend of mine took delivery and his car was on a spinning pedestal when he arrived and was at the door to the plant ready to drive off when the tour was complete. It can't be that hard to do. Oh well. I wish is could go to the Friends and Family gathering next Sunday. Too far to go for me.
