Re: 2014 diesel production

I called the customer line through Jeep and asked on my order. The guy put me on hold for about 5 minutes and then came back and told me the 100% inspection BS... I stopped him about halfway through and said "listen man I know my car has passed inspection and is now in the Java lot and is being stored until whatever it is that is going on is resolved, I just wanted to tell you that a decent number of your consumers are very well informed and know that you guys are giving us a BS answer". The guy apologized and said he would search for more information and that he would "escalate a ticket for me". And I just told him to have his boss or his bosses boss ask to be allowed to give an actual answer that makes sense to us or they will be seeing orders cancelled.

Hahaha....

As funny and as sad as this might be, you guys better tell them you found this out from your dealers.

But I do hope you said it exactly the way this reads!

Re: 2014 diesel production

Ahhh, first world problems. It seems a few people are actually quite upset about this. No one likes to wait, but being so upset about something you have no power to change is only going to hurt yourself.

Chrysler doesn't care if you are so upset about scheduling delays that you're going to cancel your order. Someone else will buy that Jeep, and live happily ever after in its luxurious bosom.

Guys,

I agree withe Willx...

Please protect our JG sources. Our friends are providing the information as a benefit to loyal JG PREMIUM members. For the sake of our friends at JNAP and those buyers purchasing after us, be careful what you tell CS. It may make you feel important or good for a few minutes, but it may dry up the data source we so desperately cling.

I think you jumped on the wrong person. You talked to a customer service person who I am sure does not know whats going on and they can have their boss who also won't know whats going on call you back with a better sounding answer.

Along the same lines, I used the "have online friends and sources" tactic with my local dealer's internet sales manager. I spelled out exactly what I was willing to pay, what other deals are available, affiliate member, etc....laid it out then said make your offer.

No reply as of yet....I already have my deal cut so I'm guessing they would prefer the low information buyer instead.

Re: 2014 diesel production

To be certified, a vehicle must demonstrate that its exhaust and (as applicable, depending on the specific vehicle category) evaporative emission control systems are durable and comply with the emission standards for the vehicle's useful life. This is done through durability and certification testing of the prototype certification vehicle(s). Compliance with on-board diagnostics, anti-tampering, fuel tank fill-pipe and openings, crankcase emissions, etc., as applicable, must be demonstrated also. An application for certification must be submitted to, and approved by, the Air Resources Board (ARB) (and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) concurrently).

Considering that Jeep has been working on and advertising the release of the Diesel for a very long time, I can't believe they would wait for the vehicles to be built and ready to ship before finalizing certifications.

Someone in management must have surely dropped the ball, or an installed component is not working as prescribed/designed and something needs to be tweaked or replaced. I will go with the former, as just today more 2014 Diesels were built. Why would they continue building if there is a hardware issue?

Once the paperwork gets resolved, Jeep will shoot them out all over the country en mass. Hopefully sometime this month.

I wish there were other vehicles that suited my needs. Since there are not, Jeep has me by the b@lls.

I looked at all the diesel SUV alternatives, and I looked again, and kept coming back to Jeep. They have us by the skittles, so we sit and wait. I just hope we get them before the snow flies...oh wait, it already has in So.Dakota....I think Deadwood got 48"....
