Re: 2014 diesel production

A diesel isn't necessary for me, just a desire. I do however want a luxury SUV with some off-road capabilities. That narrows the field quite a bit.

It does seem suspicious at this point (the fix that isn't a fix, or however it was worded) and current gov shutdown issues could be unrelated to the debunked EPA conspiracy theories of a few months ago... but the gov didn't shut down until 10/1. This was over a month after production started. I cant believe that Jeep wouldn't have been working to get certification long before this (before the large production rollout)... with pilot builds even. Aren't things like that what the pilot builds are for?

Seems like any project manager on this would have the certification done before starting mass production... To much risk ($$) otherwise??

Re: 2014 diesel production

To confuse us even more, just got this from my dealer

"I just got an update from my Chrysler rep. He told me that the hold up is not an EPA certification. The Jeep has already received certification. The hold up has been a last minute quality check on every diesel unit. Shipping is slated to start as early as Thurday. This is from a good source."

I sure hope he is right, but I still think it is an EPA thing

Did he say if it was one of those "100% Special" QC checks?

Re: 2014 diesel production

I think Milous made it pretty clear... And if he's right then we might not be getting our jeeps until they turn the govt back on.

My dealer said (and confirmed by Chevy in another thread) that none or almost none of the JGC have been shipping in the last week or so.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Looks like the diesel is CARB certified.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Interesting, then when I made the original post they had not been certified (& the CARB link is only dated four days ago, is for California only, and was on the third day of the federal gov shutdown. Any bets the EPA cert is sitting in a basket somewhere ?)

ps "...certified conditionally on the manufacturer providing data"

pps looks like they just scraped by on one of the NOx limits. Wonder if that was the reision needed.

Seems like someone didn't get the EPA Certs done in time for release. If CARB Cert was just issued, they couldn't have been shipped prior to that since they are sold as "50 States" vehicles. If the EPA docs are done, they should ship. If not, they sit.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Do I have any hope of getting my Jeep before November 4th? The estimated ship date they gave to me is the 22nd. I need the Jeep before November 4th or not until June 2014. I am attempting to sell my tickets to the USGP now. I was looking forward to having a vehicle while on my trip.
