I suspect they are still cranking out the CRD's because they are hitting a saturation point from an inventory perspective for the petrol versions right now.

They know there's pent up demand for the diesel versions (as 1,200 will not be enough for NAFTA), so, either way, they are building up inventory. Either it's unsold petrol versions, or stored diesel versions (that they know will sell).

I will note, with some despair, that the woman has put the cut date at Oct 31. If the CRD is not in the driveway/on the dealer lot/on a train with an arrival date, we'll be canning the order.
Speaking of this, I will admit I live in one of the "snobby" parts of the city (The BMW/Porsche/Audi/etc) dealers are in the same spot as all the others. Actually a nice setup for buying....anyways, I was suprised by the number of Laredo's/Limited's (based on LED headlights) over the Limited's with options/Overlans/Summit ratio.

I will also admit that I have been eyeballing the X5 and the Audi TDI again.

As for Fall 2013...I really want to get the Jeep polished, etc before first snow fall and that could be as early as end of the month for me....plus I want to show it off to the parents when they are here for the kids B'Day end of the month.

Audi, VW and Porsche share the same engine. I believe Audi and VW has the same set up on the Toureg and Q7. Porsche's has a little difference in the fuel and software system. The VW V6 TDI for the Toureg and Q7 has been in the market for a few years. Porsche's came last year. I think this year, Audi introduced mainly the same engine (hp seems to have gone up) on the Q5, A6 and A7. So, I bet certification carries over. Either that, or the VW engine had a better time passing the tests.

I'd say it has more to do with the fact that the Germans have had diesel engines on this side of the pond now for 10+ years and know WTF they are doing.

Jeep is just now trying to dip the toe back in the water.. and clearly under-estimated the entire process (given the huge amount of delay in getting these things built and out the door, let alone on dealer lots here in NAFTA).

The woman loves the Durango and is not sure why the hell I need a Jeep, especially one that does not exist.

She's been playing around and loves the VW Executive or the Explorer Sport (neither of which I'm overly keen on).

At anyrate, Jeep needs to get the shit together and ship them, folks have been overly patient, but it's starting to wear thin...

Yeah, as mentioned earlier, my Explorer went out of registration 2 weeks ago, not to mention that it's probably not safe to drive anymore anyway (I'm continually shoveling up rusted bits that have fallen off). So all I have is my motorcycle for transportation until the Jeep gets here. I think Chiv is in a similar situation.

If I had known it was going to take this long, I probably would've made a different decision. I can probably hang in there a little bit longer. If it doesn't start shipping within about 2 weeks, I may be forced into doing something else.

I see you edited your post. I was going to say that you can't post that you're very happy and that many "jumps" without saying why. You made me go look at MOTS to see if anything had moved.

That is good news if they're now doing lifetime on the diesels. That's a good message to send customers, especially after all the delays, as it implies at least some level of confidence in the product.

Given that the minimum time I've owned a vehicle is close to 19 years, I really want the lifetime. I drive 'em until they're undriveable. And then I drive 'em some more.

I was also looking at getting the mopar protection package, to get the lifetime rust warranty, which of course sounds better than it really is since the max lifetime payout is $3K.

Ah. I read on my iphone which doesn't show signatures. So you finally gave up the wait. Ya got me all excited about getting a lifetime warranty on the diesel. You tease! You post in the diesel thread that you're very happy and then add that it's because of a lifetime warranty ... only to find out it's because you jumped ship.

Well, as I said earlier, if it takes too much longer I'll probably be forced to give up too, though I'm not sure yet what I'll do. I really like the JGC but also really want a diesel.

Yeah...I got pumped too. :japslap:

Me too...my next ride WILL be a diesel. I'm in a good place to wait because my current ride is paid off and I'm still drawing the full reimbursement...for now. That could change tomorrow if HR checks their files!
