Well another one bites the dust here. I think I'm gonna bail on the CRD and just grab the V6. Not sure yet if I'll order one or just check dealer lots in a couple of weeks.
Maybe all these delays are the universe's way of telling my not to get the diesel right now. I've been getting cold feet lately thinking about Jeep not being ready for "prime time" servicing diesels on a big scale - heck they can't even launch the thing without falling all over themselves
Most people with the V6 are happy with power plus it will cost me a lot less upfront. Long term maintenance may be less on the gasser too. I drive close to 25k miles a year so long-term maintenance has to be a big factor for me as well as fuel economy. A couple of red flags on diesel maintenance for me were exclusion from max care extended warranty and someone posted possible about exclusions of all the diesel emissions stuff on extended warranty. Add in the relative newness of the engine and Jeep being unfamiliar with servicing diesels and it had me worried.
All of this stuff will eventually get worked out and Jeep will do fine with diesels but it might take a few years of growing pains. Maybe I'll be good for diesel version 2.0 someday
I thought about other manufacturers diesels but the price goes up quickly and maintenance on German cars is costly in the long term. I really just like the Jeep
