Re: 2014 diesel production

Maybe they are going to the other European countries where they drive on the right side of the road.

A false alarm is better than none...At least they are moving some...Still hopeful, still full of excitement...Those of you close, keep your eyes open! I can not see anything from here!

Ack! Sounds like they are loading up export Diesels for transport to the coast for the ships.

Re: 2014 diesel production

That would be Baltimore if I remember correctly. Guess you can't get a VIN off of one of these for full confirmation.

8/28 - called customer service, they advised parts had been scheduled. VOT shows confirmed.

8/30 - called customer service, no change in status. VOT shows confirmed

9/9 - dealer advised est'd ship date of 9/28. Also received my second email from VOTS advising my JGC was scheduled for production. VOT says production confirmed.

9/17 - called customer service, they confirmed est'd ship date of 9/28 with ETA at Port Allen Louisiana rail yard of 10/3. VOT says production confirmed.

9/23 - called customer service, they advised my order was scheduled 9/07 with est'd loading on rail car of 9/29 and revised ETA at Port Allen Louisiana rail yard of 10/5. VOT says production confirmed. LOST TWO DAYS

9/27 - received my third email advising my vehicle was in production. VOT shows my vehicle is in paint.

9/30 - VOT status jumped this morning from PAINT to FINAL INSPECTION. Customer Service comment du jour is that my JGC has been built but I won the lottery and selected for 100% inspection. Lucky me! They cannot tell me how long inspection will take but that my Port Allen ETA is still 10/5. Cannot get a window sticker for my VIN. Sounds fishy but smells more like BS......

10/3 - VOT still says FINAL INSPECTION
Customer Service hasn't changed their comments about my unit having being built and selected for 100% inspection. However, when I pressed for more info, they told me my status is JS - "shipped to storage". Still cannot get a window sticker. Hmmmm maybe the EPA rumor has merit

Estimated ship date is now 10/4 with unloading at Port Allen railyard on 10/5. This must be a WARPSPEED express train! Or, more likely, they system is not going to be updated until something starts moving again.

Info from VOT and customer service seems to be totally random and almost useless but at least it is fun trying to chase it down and reading everyone else's theories. Can't do anything much else til my ride gets here.

10/7 – VOT continues to say FINAL INSPECTION
Customer Service is still telling me that my JGC has been selected for 100% TESTING and INSPECTION “which will take some undeterminable amount of time but this will GUARANTEE that everything is 100% right when I get my vehicle”. Today’s rep said he couldn’t tell me anything else but then immediately said my status is JS and that my new estimated ship date is 10/19. He went on to say he wasn’t allowed/able to give me any projected ETA at the Port Allen railyard. The only thing that I can say is that Customer Service Representative information is consistently inconsistent.

To be continued……..
the sad saga continues....
10/11 - Today Customer Service advises my current estimated ship date is 10/25.

In the 4 days since my last update, my estimated delivery date has been pushed out 6 days. In the 3 days between my 10/7 and 10/4 updates, my estimated delivery date was pushed out 14 days. I see a trend here which says it is mathematically impossible for me to receive my 2014 JGC no matter how long I wait.

I blame top & mid Jeep Management! They have provided the absolutely worst possible customer communications regarding a production issue and the resulting delivery delay. This delay would have, could have, been a minor issue to many of us who've already placed our orders if we'd been given full & credible information. Management needs to call in some professional Crisis Communications Consultants to do damage control before the situation worsens and customers permanently migrate to other brands.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Well, That was a fun false alarm, but it does look like those are Euro/UK Diesel badges.

In the mean time...

I'm watching it snow - the 4th solid storm of the season, and Arapahoe Basin opens the ski season the day after tomorrow.

I got these to be ready to use my block heater for the coldest nights that I'm not garaged here in Summit County Colorado.

Coleman Cable 02368 16/3-Gauge High Visibility and Low Temperature Outdoor Extension Cord, 50-Feet, Blue - Amazon.com

Amazon.com: Woods 3202 Extension Cord Holder, 150-Feet: Home Improvement

Not a bad setup for $36, and it'll store nicely near the spare I'm guessing. I work nights about 4-5 times a month, and have to park outside. We have temps down to -20F pretty regularly in December and January, and sometimes later in the season too, so the block heater was pretty much NOT optional for my Jeep.

Re: 2014 diesel production

Since it looks like we have a bit more time, maybe a slight thread jack for distraction.

When I was doing my initial research, I found Chrysler's rust proofing option and was doing reading on it, and if I recall correctly, if you got their complete package (rust, paint, interior) they gave you a lifetime warranty against rust. That seemed pretty attractive considering how quickly anything metal rusts where I am. I'm virtually right on the beach, with fairly heavy surf and strong winds, which means there's always a layer of salt on everything. Even my stainless steel craftsman tools, which are kept in the garage are completely rusted-over.

Now when I did a little more research, I discovered there was a $3K lifetime payout, so you'd never get more than $3K back. But it was looking like it'd cost about $500-600, and since I think I'm virtually guaranteed to get rust damage, it seemed like I'd come out "ahead".

Anyway - I can't seem to find that deal/option anymore. Is that no longer an option, or is my sadness over Lucy yanking the football yet again detracting from my search prowess?

If it is still an option - anyone have thoughts on whether I should do it? I know for most people it's not worth it and just benefits the dealer. But if you do live in a truly high-corrosion area, maybe it's not so worthless?

FWIW - as evidenced by my Explorer - which I drove until it rusted to the point of no longer being driveable - I keep vehicles until it's no longer practical to keep them running and then I keep them a bit longer ....

That is very good news. Of course A basin is usually the first to open. Are you going?
