Re: 2014 diesel production

Guess it depends on how far they are transported and whether they reset the odo afterwards (think that is illegal). Mine had 15 miles on the odo when purchased but I put about 5 on in a test drive (bought off the lot).

Re: 2014 diesel production

I just noticed in that video the urea system is huge. It takes up that entire open cavity under the rear cargo area/spare tire. Seems they also put some plastic shield over the components.

And if someone hasn't seen this one, it's a great video because it is a diesel in summit trim in granite, my exact vehicle :

Re: 2014 diesel production

I just noticed this in the diesel supplement for the WK2:

Stopping The Engine
Idle the engine a few minutes before routine shutdown.

A few minutes every time I go to shut off the engine? Do people really do that? Seems a bit excessive.

It is an old fashion turbo thing. If you ran it hard or just came off of towing, I would let it idles for a minute or two. If I just went for an hours drive I might let it idle for an extra 10 seconds,

At what point in this video did you see the urea system? This appears to me to just be one of those "driving scenes" videos... I skipped through it and didn't see a single part of the video where they look at anything inside the car whether it be the cargo area or otherwise.

Gotcha.... I dont appreciate the gap that use to exist under the seat because I havent seen any other configuration in that area... seems to be an ok spot though eh?

Re: 2014 diesel production

I suspect the turbo bearings are oil lubed and cooled If so the temp coming off a hard pull with high EGT could bake the oil so the idea is to idle for long enough to bring the EGT down.

Wonder if the instrumentation includes EGT or CHT somewhere ? With aluminum components it is a real good idea to know what they are. Unlike a gas engine which will generally get cranky if overtemped, a diesel will just keep pulling and getting hotter.

My RV has a 2.4 liter TD and dual full sized radiators with electric fans. I drive mainly on the boost and temp gauges.
